CW: domestic violence, abuse This week we talk about domestic violence in the South Asian community. In this episode, we'll weave in statistics, anecdotal evidence, and cultural narratives that set up this issue of domestic violence in South Asian-American communities. From the cultural barriers like “shame”, “fear”, and “family honor” to issues of financial literacy and the stigma behind divorce, we discuss the reasons why intimate partner violence is so prevalent in South Asian households.
