Sitting With the Negative

from Horse Hippie’s Morning Mantras · host Horse Hippie

Morning Mantra: "It could be worse.”This is what my father used to say to me when I found myself venting to him about life.  I didn’t appreciate it at the time.Recently however, I started using it whenever I find myself facing a disappointment, and by golly, it works!Usually, when we are having a bad experience, we are taught to try to shift focus to everything that is good about our life.  To try and counter the negative with the positive. To generate gratitude. This certainly can help, but it also negates your ability to learn to navigate negative feelings. And, just a reminder, you are allowed to feel ALL the feelings. When you think about how things could have been worse, you generate gratitude for how good your "bad" was. Still allowing you to recognize that bad things happen and to sit with your negative emotions until they pass.I’ll tell you something I found, I go through the bad quicker. Even though it sucks to have negative things happen, understanding that it could always be worse, somehow helps me move on sooner.#BeAwareOfTheWorse #BeHappy #BeHorsey #BeHippie #HorseHippie #MorningMantra #WordsToInspire#InspirationalQuotes #HorseHippieBoutique #SmallBusinessOwner #WomenOwned
