Six Flags Wild Safari welcomes more than 30 baby rheas
from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand
More than 30 baby rheas were born over the last week at Six Flags Wild Safari in Jackson Township, New Jersey. Rheas are large, flightless birds closely related to ostriches and emus. They're native to South America. They can grow to 5 feet tall, but these chicks are not much bigger than the size of your hand. The director of Wild Safari says having so many chicks born in such a short period is "an exciting milestone" for the animal care team. Visitors have until Sept. 7 to see the chicks before Wild Safari closes for the season. (Photo provided by Six Flags Wild Safari)
