In which we observe the fastidious and lavender-scented Misses Crumpton presiding over their finishing school for young ladies, where society’s notions of propriety and accomplishment are delicately paraded amid the comings and goings of hopeful families and a grand ball. Into this microcosm steps the daughter of a Member of Parliament, bringing with her the stirrings of sentiment and the melodrama attendant upon youthful fancy and the inevitable entanglements it begets.
