Sky Fall to Dream 87-78… Same Problems Showing Early?

The Chicago Sky faced the Atlanta Dream in a preseason matchup that carried way more emotion than a normal exhibition game — because Angel Reese was on the other side. On this episode of Chicago Sky Central, Haize & Stevo break down the Sky’s 87-78 loss to the Dream, Angel Reese’s first matchup against her former team, and the bigger question hanging over the franchise: Did Chicago move on from its biggest star too soon? When Reese was drafted No. 7 overall in 2024, it felt like the beginning of a new era in Chicago. She quickly became one of the league’s biggest personalities, broke rebounding records, made All-Star teams, and looked like a future face of the franchise. But after two difficult seasons, tension over facilities, roster construction, resources, and the team’s direction eventually led to Reese being traded to Atlanta for future first-round picks. Now Reese is being viewed by the Dream as a possible missing piece in their championship push, while the Sky are still trying to define their identity with injuries to Azurá Stevens, Courtney Vandersloot, and DiJonai Carrington clouding the early picture.
