Sky the K9’s Tragic End Revealed | Johannesburg News

Sky, the beloved Saps K9 who captured national attention after suffering horrific injuries at Roodeplaat, has tragically passed away. Despite heroic efforts by vets, her condition deteriorated overnight, making surgery too risky — her body couldn’t handle the trauma, evidenced by red urine signaling organ failure. Found with severe fractures and tissue damage, Sky’s suffering was deemed unbearable. A post-mortem is underway to uncover what went wrong, while shocking records reveal concerns about her welfare as far back as March — including documented escape attempts, separation anxiety, and a dire prognosis that warned she couldn’t stay at Saps without compromising her well-being. Just ten days before her death, a vet certificate flagged her plight. Now, a criminal case has been launched, with authorities investigating both the facility and those responsible for ignoring clear warnings.
