Skylarking
from Mr Gee poet · host Mr Gee poet
Skylarking . . I always wanted to be a travelling man, To sail the seven seas & cross the desert sands, To stand on mountain peaks, surveying all I can, But I knew I belonged to the sky, . From the West to the East my speculation would roam, The ghosts in my dreams have me searching for home, It's solitary feast & I'm dining alone, But I knew I belonged to the sky, . I can't remain on the level of a ruffian's plight, I'll frame the square mile with abundant delights, With my body in the ground & my mind at great heights, I knew I belonged to the sky, . So I relish the future with ardour & zeal, That I could wander the earth with universal appeal, My home is where my heart is & as long as I can feel... . ...Then I know I belong to the sky, . .
