Nell'aprile del 1989, la BBC, famosa emittente britannica trasmise, all’interno del programma a tema artistico Arena, un storico documentario il cui titolo di due parole esprimeva in modo diretto e conciso l’argomento che si sarebbe trattato: Heavy Metal.I maggiori esponenti dell’heavy metal del tempo erano tutti presenti, in fila davanti alle telecamere come insetti sotto il microscopio di un entomologo: Ozzy, Lemmy, Lars Ulrich, Jimmy Page, Bruce Dickinson, Axl Rose ... tutti quelli che all’epoca “erano qualcuno” vennero coinvolti.Verso la fine dello show, le cose presero una strana piega. Quattro individui dall'aspetto insolito appena usciti dall'adolescenza, appollaiati su un letto in una stanza di periferia tappezzata di poster di film dell'orrore, spiegarono come la loro band, Napalm Death, stesse traghettando l’heavy metal un luogo completamente nuovo ed inesplorato.I produttori del documentari trascurarono di menzionare che i Napalm Death stavano guidando un nuovo movimento clandestino rivoluzionario come il thrash mezzo decennio prima.
