Do you know what I like to do when it's cold? You wanna know what I like to do when it's freezing? I like to sleep. Let's talk about that.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Daily Grateful. I'm Michael Cruz. And I wanna speak about one of my favorite things to do. And do you know what that is?

It's to sleep. I just love sleeping. Now, I gotta tell you, there seems to be a bit of a disagreement about this going around, especially with people with years on them. They don't sleep.

I don't understand that. I have a friend. He's up at three o'clock in the morning. He's up at four.

He's up at, you know, he doesn't go to bed. He just, it's amazing. He'll take a nap in the afternoon, but he doesn't sleep. I don't know.

And I thought, okay, he's just a strange guy. No, I've talked to lots of people, men and women who do not like to sleep. I freaking love going to sleep. Sleeping is self-respect, man.

Getting a good rest isn't lazy. It's taking care of your body, my doctor. She's not a doctor. She's a, what do they call that?

A nurse practitioner. She told me about the importance of sleep. She said, it just regenerates your body. It does all kinds of wonderful things.

And, you know, people who live a long time sleep well. I remember my uncle George used to get good sleep. He was like really into getting good sleep. Not only would he get eight, nine hours of sleep at night, but he would take an afternoon nap every day.

I have found, you know, since I was in my 20s that an afternoon nap was just wonderful. I would always take an afternoon, right? As a matter of fact, I did it today. I took an afternoon nap today.

I had to go out to the beach today. I had to go to a bunch of places today, do a bunch of things. I came home and I took a nap. And I'm going to, when I'm done recording the podcast and you know, doing a few other things in here in the studio, I'm going to go watch my stories as my darling, my son's girlfriend.

She says, are you going to watch your stories? I watch General Hospital. Don't hate me. I watch General Hospital.

It's my stories. And I watch it every night at eight o'clock. Well, it's after eight now, but it comes on to Hulu after eight o'clock at night. So when I'm done here, I'm going to go watch my stories.

Then I'm going to probably go to right to bed and about, I don't know, well, before 10 o'clock. I usually am in bed by nine o'clock and I just, here's the thing, I'd have a nice mattress. I have a nice mattress. You have to have a mattress that you like.

I have a mattress that I like. The best mattress I ever slept on. Oh, I can't afford it. It's almost $5,000 and it is a 100% natural foam rubber mattress.

And my former girlfriend, Debbie, who used to live in Debbie Land, had this one of these mattresses. And I, one of the things I loved about going to visit Debbie down in Debbie Land, which was West Palm Beach, was the fact that I got to sleep on her mattress. This mattress, and I've looked at getting one just like it. And right now, they're like $6,000.

I'm not a $6,000 for a mattress, but I have good mattress. The other important thing to me is the right pillow. You have to have the right pillow. Everything feels so much better after you rest and you have a good pillow.

Now, what is a good pillow? I had the pillow that the pillow guy, you know, the pillow guy. What's his name? The pillow guy.

I met the pillow guy. When I was working radio, I met the pillow guy. Very nice guy. This is before he was in the politics.

He was in the pillows in religion. And he gave me one of his my pillows. I didn't like it at all. As a matter of fact, he gave all of us at the studio.

My pillow. He gave us all pillows. No, he liked them. I don't know one person who likes his pillow.

But still, he got very rich selling those pillows. No, I had to go into the pillow. The pillows I like are down's goose feather pillows. And my pillows are old.

You're supposed to be in a replacement. I don't. I like just the way they squished. You're just right and they're cold and they're nice.

And I, you know, I like those. They came out with these memory foam pillows. My old girlfriend, Debbie, had one and she gave it to me because she didn't like it. And I gave it to Zach and Zach loved it.

Zach loved it until this cat peed on it and he had to throw it away. But it was a great pillow. I mean, it was just an absolute great pillow. And have all these new fan dangled pillows out there now, but he loved that.

He absolutely loved the memory foam pillow that I got from Debbie that I gave to him. Don't scat peed on it. That was the end of that. Sleep fuels creativity and gratitude.

Did you know that? It does. When I'm well rested, when I've got good sleep, I'm very creative. I just got up from my nap.

I'm very creative. I'm in a happy, happy mood because I just got up from my nap. And with my really nice, by the way, I have always slept by getting back to pillows. Why am I getting back to pillows?

It's just one of these things. When I lived at home, which was a long time ago, I lived in a single bed. I had a single bed mattress. And it was a feather pillow mattress.

It was a goose down feather mattress that we had had forever. But it was just a single bed, just not even a full, a single. And I had a chair next to the bed right where my head was. And I had two pillows, two feather pillows.

I had one on the chair getting cold and I had the other on my bed that I was sleeping on. And in the middle of the night, I would switch off that pillow all the time. That's what I did all the time. Now I've got, you know, please, I said, I have two pillows, actually I have three pillows.

I have two goose down feather pillows that I sleep with. And I switch back and forth between those in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping. And then I've got a great big feather pillow. Big, big, big one.

That is my stomach hug pillow that I wrap my arms around since I don't have a wife. I wrap my arms around that and I sleep with that. There. So that's my hug pillow.

And then I had my sleeping pillows. And that's just wonderful. The cat just opened up the door to the studio. And I'm going to have Zach.

Zach, can you come in here for a second while I'm doing my podcast? I need you to talk about pillows. Come in here for a second. Go get on that microphone if you can.

I got it. Yeah, that one right here. You're gonna have to turn it around. Make yourself say hi, Zach.

Hi, Zach. You're there. You're on. I'm talking about sleep and the importance of sleep in this podcast.

And I'm talking about pillows. Do you remember the memory foam pillow that I got from Debbie that I gave to you? I do. I do.

I had it for about 10 years. You love that pillow to your cat beat on it. Yes, it was a prized possession of mine for a long time. And my horrible, horrible cat that I love in a door named Bagels.

Bagels is an awesome cat, by the way. He's a great cat. He's just a real jerk. Because he peed on your pillow.

He pees on a lot of stuff. Well, he used to. He doesn't anymore. Good.

He used to be a real scumbag, though. He still has kind of a scumbag. He hates Ramona or other cat. Yeah.

Which is, Ramona is right behind you on the table, right behind you. And I got you Ramona. I took you to the ASPCA. We went to the shelter and Ramona was just a cute tiny little cat.

A real tiny lady. A tiny little lady. And you were looking at cats. You were in a cat room.

And that one jumped up on you, curled up in your lap, and then snuggled up to you. And I knew that that was your cat. And then from that moment. From that moment on, there's Ramona, Zac's cat.

For the listeners at home, she's behind me, leaned into my lower back while I sit here and talk into the microphone. And she is demanding pets. Absolutely demanding pets. And we'll not tolerate you not petting her.

So that's good. So I just wanted to. So what is your favorite pill? What kind of pill do you have now?

I have a less good, Tempur-Pedic pillow that we bought almost immediately on Amazon. Okay. And what do you do with this pillow when you're not there? And the cat's there.

You hang it on the wall? I used to. Back when we were dealing with him being a real douche. I would have to hide the pillow.

And I had a special blanket I've had for a while, but I also had to hide under the big blanket. Do you know what is on my shelf in the bedroom? My childhood blanket. Your childhood blanket.

Yes. It is there. So when I eventually croak, you can go in there and grab that and keep, but I've been holding on to it for all these. I'll be sure to do that.

I'll be sure to do that. I'll be sure to do that. I'll be sure to do that. I'll be sure to do that.

Because you had like holes in it and she patched the thing back together and all as well. Always so heroic. So Zach, would you please end the podcast for me right now? Wait a second.

Wait a second. I, uh, so wrapping up today with Zachary. That's me. Thanks for listening.

Have a great day. Have a fantastic evening. And if you're having a bad one, that's fine. You'll have a better one soon.

I think that's it. I think we're good. We're good. The music is playing out.

Oh. I've got my 60 second. I buy music. Zach is dancing.

He doesn't have headphones on. He can't hear the music. Yeah. Catch you sitting there.

Such a loving cat. And we will see you all tomorrow on this good daily great.
