Ladies and gentlemen welcome back to another episode you meet up your host advert to bring you another exciting guest We're gonna be talking about luxury, but not just luxury. We're gonna focus on interior design and for that we have Meredith by her home I'm really well, how are you? Very very good. Thank you.
It's lovely to have you here with us today to share everything that you know about Yes, I'm excited to do it The record area of Los Angeles and don't be surprised with my cat wanders into the picture because she's loved she always calls the camera Let's get to this because you know, I was actually looking at some of the most recent projects you were working on I see that you were working with Mauricio who is one of the guys I've seen tomorrow Your projects are so beautifully done and you do from luxury home staging interior design tell us a little bit about what Meredith by her home is that Okay, well we do the main thing we do is we stage homes that are for sale and we make them look irresistible So that people that are looking for a home walk in and see exactly what they want and fall in love and but besides that we also do Um, something called a luxury lease, which is people need beautiful furniture to live with maybe for a short time Maybe for a few years and we'll lease them furniture to live with According to their own needs and then we also do something called instant home Which is maybe someone buys one of our homes, but they don't want to furnish it themselves Or the supply chain is daunting because it'll take you know four to eight months to get the furniture So we'll deliver a house full furniture give them a price list they can buy what they want and we'll pick up what they don't want Sounds like all great solutions to me. Yes. Yes. Wow.
So when it comes to properties and all the staging that you do for it Is it all kind of properties? Is it specific type of properties? Well, it's it's generally luxury properties. It's generally high-end homes That's all we like we'll do all types of homes, you know when when needed but the majority of our work is uh, Lectury real estate now Is it something that you work hand-in-hand with the real estate broker or the owner to find what kind of staging will fit best or Yes, generally the the the real estate broker and and or the homeowner Um, we'll let us know what they're looking for what kind of a look they want or the last for our recommendation and we'll discuss it with them And we go from there.
I find that fantastic. Now how is important? Because it looks great now This instagrammable concept that has became so popular with design favorite thing in the world are the before and after shots and Instagram, I guess what everyone on instagram loves and it's just so great to be able to you know to market on instagram Uh, so yeah, it seems like all of our followers really love the you know from kind of the ordinary look to like wow in a matter of one or two days And it makes such a huge difference Entering to the same property and one of them empty or with ugly design and then the other one with all the nightly done by somebody like yourself You make a whole difference a matter of days and it just you know overnight and that and it's it's really aspirational It's what it's how they would imagine themselves wanting to live Now when you do this home staging can they also purchase the furnitures with the property? Absolutely, they can purchase everything or they can purchase a room full or just the specific items they want, but we love to sell Now I see that you have offices in the San Diego, San Francisco and you're handsome.
I mean like you're covering the whole nation. No, we are We really are yeah, we have warehouses and sort of you know that where we have the most work and Boy, florida has been so busy this year south. I can't even believe it so many people are moving there and The houses were just last year flying off the market and we had a huge demand for the luxury lease product Which is that people moved in and because the supply chain is kind of broken at the moment Yeah, they either couldn't get what they wanted or they didn't want and they just wanted to move in and be home and feel at home So the number of luxury leases just skyrocketed the amount of time we were in homes Really shrunk and we've moved out of a lot of homes days after we installed and It just we were just flying in flying out How do you ensure that you're keeping up with the demand because I'm sure there's a certain amount of supply I mean Well, we do manufacture a lot of our and and design a lot of our own furnishing So we have a 50 000 square foot warehouse in the LA area. That's just manufacturing just manufacturing It's not 200 000 square foot warehouse in downtown LA where we just store our furniture ready to take it in and out of homes So so we do we are able to manufacture our own pieces and then um, we you know, we work We try to keep a lot in stock that we follow the trends We sort of see what the demand is and what the demand is for and we stock it so that we have it What about that demand because you're saying that the new trends what is actually trending right now?
What have you seen the most home in the last couple of years? The biggest trend is toward more contemporary furnishings You know 20 years ago people wanted more of a traditional look and then and then it gradually over the years became more of a transitional look maybe a few nice antiques mixed with more contemporary items and Then it was sort of more everyone just wanted contemporary. However, now we're feeling the trend moving toward more than um an earthy organic look Or or you know mixed with the contemporary because it's temporary contemporary gets a little bit cold feeling after a while And actually now we're starting to see people want more of a mix eclectic and more antiques in florida It seems like there's still liking the modern the most Yeah, that's true. I mean right now every property that you see that is coming up so modern all spectacular.
So yeah, that's the trend here Yes, sure now Obviously you've been doing this for many many years and it sounds so glamorous and so fun But i'm sure there's been also a lot of difficulties within this whole process So tell me what's been one of the biggest lessons that you've learned out of something difficult biggest lesson i've learned uh Is to just roll with the trend and roll with with the time and uh, you know, I think from the time I started which was a complete accident the way I got started Um, the business just kept growing and growing and growing there was a need Uh, you know, I started it kind of just accidentally and then all of a sudden We just got busy or busy or busy or busy or busy until the recession And then you know, then it was a little bit flat, but we rolled with it You know, we you know during that time we lowered our prices a little bit We tried all kinds of things to help our clients because it was tough for a lot of people uh, a lot of developers lost their shirts and um, uh, so and now we're always kind of just trying to stay on top of what's going on What people seem to respond to and and just going with it going with it Yeah, sometimes you don't know what's coming next but you need to make sure to adjust Yes, and by the way, we're always looking we're always searching searching searching for new looks new interesting items We search the world our group So is it also something that you have in mind to potentially expand internationally? Oh, yes. I mean we actually will we actually have and and we'll continue to we do to send containers Um to all parts of the world. Um, uh, and you know, that's why we also send containers to resort areas like aspen bale sun valley Uh, uh, we just want to wash it in dc Uh, but you know, we have to add in the cost of you know transporting the material there Absolutely.
Well, that's a great business. Well, I feel like you guys are expanding even though it was an accident at first It's becoming very very nicely done. So yes, it's just on that Our question that I have for everybody in our show. I don't want to know why it really means to you is the world luxury You know, it's so different for everybody.
What is it for you? Well, I mean luxury to me is what makes me go wow it makes me feel uh Just like this is it But it also is like it's what makes me want to curl up there, you know with a nice cosmic blanket So it's it's what feels good what feels comfortable and uh, uh, but it definitely it's it's it pleases the eye But it also pleases all of the senses I love that answer because I've never heard that one before and we've had a lot of guests already What makes me wow? Yeah, it's just like you know, very good very good very good No, I agree with you something that uses wow is I mean in a good way sometimes it's not It's truly That's that's great. Now if you have something that You you've learned over the years that you're applying now and obviously with social media and technology evolving But you will say you know, overall before we used to market Traditionally now with social media where with instagram comes back to what you were saying about adapting right adapting yourself Adapting the new trends adaptive technology.
Yes. Do you think it's coming next especially when it comes to this industry? Well, um, I mean at the moment I feel that uh You know, there's been there's been modern modern modern modern modern modern. I think maybe for florida That's going to continue for a while what I'm seeing on the west coast is people wanting Um more of like a rustic modern, you know, something that is a little bit more minimal but fresh But again, I think you know different territory sort of a different look appeals to different territories But I do think that people really are liking the idea of wanting instant and wanting comfort and durability not just beautiful You know, they want things to work for their lifestyle I agree I have a question though because a lot of people nowadays with technology evolving so fast right then with virtual reality And we have the renderings.
Yes, we can do all this virtual Homestaging for people to kind of visualize I will look and I'm sure that's kind of part of the process of how you do things But it's it has become so real it's getting to a certain degree of so real that yes You don't feel all the senses. You cannot touch the furniture and smell exactly exactly So that I always have that that battle Is it gonna eventually get to a point where you're gonna be able to just like in an instant turn your whole house upside down with technology and just Feel it or it's always gonna be lacking the senses that we just talked about Well, I I think it's always gonna come back to the senses I think people you know, they you know, they want a dream of going to Pluto or or Mars But I think they really really want to come back home and and I think home means safe It means comfortable. It means surrounded by things you love and I think technology is fun But you don't fall in love with technology You know, you fall in love with something tactile you fall in love with what you can see and feel and touch The senses we go back to the luxury. Yes, it's really activator sense.
Wow. Very good. Well, I really appreciate your time I know you're super busy, but I'll definitely reach out to you once I'm in LA and I wanted to congratulate you once again for everything that you're doing Thank you so much. Thank you for being here today.
