Ladies and gentlemen welcome back to another S&P VNOP your host Alvaro and today I'm super excited with the duo that we're gonna have with us. Now how many of you have seen the amazing race? Well we're gonna have the killer duo of the William Sisters that's Kailin and Hailey. They both been in the amazing race and they also built an amazing real estate career in Charleston, South Carolina.
There they are. What's that, Lin? Yeah we are so excited to be here. Wait who's who I'm confused now?
I'm Kailin and I'm Hailey. There you go. Well welcome welcome. Thank you so much for so excited to be here.
Well I gotta say that it's very rare to see your dynamic. I mean you're both super adventurous positive with such a great energy and not only you've been in the amazing race which for those that are not too familiar with I mean it's such an incredible show that takes people to do the most incredible adventures and you've also been taking that side that wilderness into real estate and have built this tremendous brand you're helping people buy us all this property. I mean what a great combination. So tell us what's going on here.
Thank you so much. We've been very fortunate so far. The amazing race was the biggest push we could have had starting our real estate careers. We were really really lucky about that.
Yeah we tried to time it perfectly too because we knew that it was going to be airing at the same time so we tried to kind of time our real estate careers and coming out with that at the same time as being on the amazing race so we could use that push of attention and whatever. We didn't know what kind of attention we'd get from it but we try to use that that push from attention to bring buyers to bring sellers and it worked out pretty well for us. So it's working out. When you're on TV to you're a little nervous like what are they going to air?
What's going to be cut? What do they catch you saying and it's such a competitive show and we did not realize how competitive we were until we stepped foot on that show. We're like oh we are very competitive. So you have kind of panic at the end.
You're like what did I say? What's going to air home? I'm going to be perceived and we were very very lucky to be perceived the way we were. We were really lucky.
We could go either way. So it went well for us and it doesn't happen like that for everyone. We're not watching or that we'll watch this later. Tell us a little bit about the amazing race.
Like what is it that is wow? So the amazing race is a show where you compete with your partner. So it's gotta be somebody that you're super close with somebody that you trust somebody that you can travel the world with and that's us we it doesn't get closer than us I don't think. We're attached to the hip.
Very attached so you travel around the world and you compete against 10 other teams so there's a lot of teams total and you're traveling from country to country and every country somebody gets eliminated if you come in last and you are competing for a million dollars and you're doing different challenges throughout the different countries. So we were competing against NFL athletes, a wimpian, a Harvard graduates and then we're like uh we're hailing in. Yeah we're doing something. And you know they just throw you in this mix and they're like and go.
So unless you said we didn't know how competitive we were until a million dollars is on the line and you just you don't want to lose and we definitely use that in real estate as well because we will fight for our clients as we do. What did you learn the most from it? Oh gosh we learned so much from the amazing race. We learned that you really just mindset is everything like anytime you get down on yourself and feel like you could not do the task you get in your head and you start spiraling and the whole day was just ruined after that and it was just completely messed up your head so you had always a cool, calm focus and just really work on your mindset.
You're right exactly and not giving up I feel like that's one thing that we learned throughout it is that we don't give up and because you know within the show if you can't complete a challenge you can take a penalty where you have to do a timeout for like two hours and then you know it will throw you behind but you still have a chance but we like even we couldn't figure it out we would not do that penalty we would just go until we finally figured it out so I think we definitely we already knew about mindset but it really does show a lot like you have to have your mind right and don't do that and we also learned a lot about like other people in different cultures and we learned that there's a lot of kindness in the world because everywhere we would go people would from that specific area would be wanting to help us and they would be getting over backwards just to help two random girls and we would never we never saw that before so it was really beautiful to see. How many realtors in Charleston have done what you've done? Thank you so much thank you we wanted to use that to our benefit you know like it's not a crazy following but you know just using any sort of in real estate as you know it's super saturated yeah and they're it's very competitive there's a ton of realtors here in Charleston so you have to do something that sets you apart from the others but why would you think building that personal brand is so important? I think it's so important because you know if you make yourself and it's all about how you present yourself you know so it's like if we present ourselves as luxury realtors and that's what's going to come you know luxury real estate will come our way and I think it's so important to show people who you are what you're doing what you're selling what you want to sell and then they're like oh okay they're selling luxury real estate I want to work with them I want to give them my property I trust them with my listing and it really is so important the way that you present yourself whether it's on Instagram whether it's just walking around the city you know because that's going to reflect in your business and if you only sell you know like you know like lower end listings and that's probably all you're going to get you know so you just have to like for us too like manifesting is pretty big for us so we've just been like manifesting luxury properties and you know luckily our business is really starting to roll and it's starting to really come but yeah I think it's just putting out there what you want who you are and it will come to you it's what is it a law of attraction you know yeah and Charleston's also very small Charleston South Carolina it's a city but it's a very small city so your reputation is everything and luckily Haley and I've been here for over 10 years and we worked in the service industry when we first moved to town so we made friends with everybody and that kind of set us apart because we've been here for so long we are from originally Hilton Head South Carolina so we are South Carolinians born and raised.
How do you really build that network I mean you've been there always me over here you're a local but a lot of people feel very introverted it's like I really want to go to this event like how do you get out there well that's great I mean sometimes you know obviously we definitely want to recharge our batteries and we're like oh we feel like we've done five events my battery level is down below so you just have to listen to your body with that which I never do she's really good about that yeah I think she doesn't know what she's never been arrested yeah that's our balance right there yes but I think that it's just time walking and really being selective of what you're networking and saying no to the things that are time-wasters and that's taken us a couple of years to really learn and as soon as the amazing race aired we had a lot of an abundance opportunities come our way and a lot of it was time-wasting and we said yeah we wanted to be yes man and we said yes to everything and then we realized that we were wasting our time that those weren't serious leads and then we just started trying to funnel out what was real and what would actually lead to more leads what would lead to more success what would lead to being around the right people so it did take us a lot longer I think to realize that yeah um to say no to the things that we just know are going to be a time-wasters but and being selected and going to the right events and going to the right places it's like and yeah it's new you know like you said so if you're going to these events where it's a bunch of you know young parties and stuff like that you can't do that you have to go to the more real estate focus networking places but also we've had to learn too like don't go to all the same real estate networks that everybody all the other realtors are going to you have to like step outside and do different things so we try to like you know we go to a really nice athletic club gym and you know you have to invest and the things that you're doing like we invest in a really nice gym because from there we're meeting a ton of people so we're investing and going and being members of the right places of the Harvard club so we're investing in being being members of the right places so we're tracking the right clientele obviously about you know when we talk about luxury that works that everybody uses in so many different ways what is really for you for us I would say a lot of it is the property itself like with Charleston like you were saying earlier yeah it's Charleston's funny like that it's like you know you could call luxury it just depends on what you're looking at like for us in Charleston we're right now working on listing a property that's going to be listed over a million but the house itself is not it's not something that I just never seen it's a little bit older and outdated but the property that it's sitting on it's on the water it's got dock access you know so luxury to us is going to be a property that's on the water you know that view the view the view because Charleston we're you know we're on the coast where it's it's beautiful here it's the water is what you want it's where you want to be but yeah the price points in Charleston are all over the place so you know luxury could be an updated beautiful mansion or it could be just a small house on the water for us it's a nice house what's the most I think you're doing Charleston oh my gosh we love boating on the boat yeah we love being out on the water with our friends I love like I was actually just on the water a couple of days ago and I went through this little canal and I was just staring at all the houses and then I would type in the address on the MLS just to see what all the houses were selling it was like I love being out on the water and just staring at all the houses and yeah I know I keep saying it but I'm like oh that's gonna be mine that's gonna be mine yeah we love boating we love all we have an incredible food scene yeah I mean great restaurants great bars great shopping so and like she said boating so in Charleston you can be running the water and you can boat right up to a great restaurant you know and go back out catch the sunset there's dolphins manatees in the water it's incredible I feel like there's nothing like Charleston because you have so many different elements we have multiple beaches but then you also have the historical part of the city so you really can find yeah and I feel like that's why we have such an edge with real estate here too because you know we can bring all sorts like we can cater to any sort of buyer like do you want to be on the water do you want to be in a historical old house do you want to live by a park do you want to live on the beach like we get your military there's a base kind of military do you need more in the industrial side of the city like we have it we have it all so I think it's so important that we love our city so much which we do I fall more in love with Charleston every day and it makes you want to sell it well and Haley and I are very fortunate that the brokerage that we work for is called Smith's Miserial State and it's an all-female brokerage yeah so when all of us ladies get together it's a watch out it's a boy our happy hours oh yeah oh my god there we go that's our fun well I mean look just like that you need to sell the city first and then everything else will follow but if you're not in love with the location then that's a matter of the property so yeah so I have a big chance them I definitely want to go yeah right now it depends on what you want to do like if you want to have a boat day I would say the best time to come is what would you say like it's hot it gets very hot it's very hot it wasn't that bad though really wasn't so I would say like September is really nice or April is amazing it's like really nice and warm up to early spring um honestly we kind of hit it every season yeah like right now now we're gonna call we call it all it's a cool weather winter so I have to have bad here they're not yeah we don't know what snow is we've seen snow like once here and we saw snow at 2018 and they shut down the street because I'm whole city oh the first hour first hour took a lot of wine well you both are super fun I'm really glad we got to meet and thank you for sharing your story it's being a pleasure and I wanted just to wrap this up I ask you if from everything that you've done in the amazing race in real estate in general like what's been the biggest lesson you've learned I know that we keep saying it and I always go back to it but mindset mindset is everything like when we wake up like I instantly start my day by being the best thing I tell myself I'm having an amazing day I'm gonna have opportunities are gonna come my way I have an abundance of business I don't know what to do with and when I do that I find that I have a great day and I have all these opportunities so you just have to have your mind right I think mindset positivity for me it's also like speak to everybody and talk to everybody with kindness and treat everybody the same because you never know where potential client is and we've learned that so much lately like everywhere we go we have conversations with people because hey like that everybody thinks that we're twins yeah and people will draw to that yeah so we'll draw to us everywhere we go and ask if we're twins and then that's our conversation and just you just never know where your next line is going to be so you just have to treat everybody kind and just yeah we're not twins but here's our cards yeah yeah yeah for sure and what you said is so true and that mindset is what will lead to high levels of energy which look at the energy is the current currency for professional and personal success people are attracted to that energy so if you have a great mindset and an elevated energy and then you're going to talk to people and people are going to automatically want to be part of that and you too I mean come on you finish each other's sentences you have such a great energy of course I want to work with you of course I want to get to know you so no congratulations well done on everything that you're doing I wish you lots of success can we see you if it's not on the next season of American race
