Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another SLD meetup, your host, Alvar and Union to bring you another exciting, interesting and successful guest. Today we're going to have with us somebody that most of you will not expect to see here today. His name is Luis Ortiz. He's a real estate celebrity that you might have seen in the famous show Million Dollar Listing, that achieved massive success.
And then he transitioned into a completely different journey, started a completely different TV show, and he's been out of the eye public for a while, so he's coming in here with us today live to tell us all about what he's been up to, what the next chapter is, and also what he's been learning throughout all this process. Hey, I can hear you my friend. Yes, wow. I thought this was not going to work and I was so sad.
No, come on. It's interesting, you know, every life that you ever watch always happens. It's like they haven't met that rich yet. It's going to be, but here we are.
You know, when there is a little bit of resistance, that means that it's an opportunity to make something happen, and this is why we're here now. We've been happening. I want to hear you coming in strong. It's very true.
And for those that are coming now live to watch us on this conversation, it is funny because you're always with the jail, nice hair. You've always been all nicely. And now you look like cool, relaxed, like you've been doing so many other amazing things. And it's a different version of Luis.
So for those that met you, because you're, I would say pinnacle where people started to really get into know you was a million dollar listing, very successful real estate agent, TV show, New York. This is the guy to follow. This is how I, this is my inspiration. This is the person I want to become.
And then all the sudden, at the pinnacle of your career, you shifted. And a lot of people were wondering why real estate was a venture that was, that was for me that people knew. I want to be a director. That's all I wanted to do.
I came from Puerto Rico and I was always fascinated with stories because stories for somehow, for some reason, for the obvious reason, he changed his perspective. And the only way to learn anything in his life that is not going well is to change perspective. It's not to train more. It's not to do it right.
It's to change perspective. Just a thought change can change your entire life. Literally, that's why people who are completely open. It's very difficult to be completely open.
But if you try and you keep on doing the same thing, eventually you start to see the results of being open. You're no longer close to anything. You're actually appreciating it for what it is. And you realize that everything has an importance, perhaps not to you, but to the world.
And yes, yes. I mean, that's to stop you for a second because I find that so interesting. I was checking your trajectory and you moved when you were 16 with your dream brother from Puerto Rico to New York. And at the age of 19, you produced your first movie that also became a success.
I mean, when I was 19, I didn't know much about life. You were there directing the movie, that completely different city and wow. Something I was in the same spot as you. I didn't know anything about life.
It just happened that there is a friend of a person that was in my class in film class from Bolivia. And he said to me because I was a good editor. And he says, which you've come to mind to believe it was true to film of mine. And you let it.
I said, sure, I'll just make mine one as well. So we went there. And then we did all that. And you learn on the process.
You learn on the field. It's crazy because when I came, they see as an American and they say, wow, this is coming to Bolivia. He must know so much. It's just perception.
It's not real. In the meantime, everybody down there is literally like 10 times more educated than anybody in the world of cinema. I mean, it's a real site. I suppose to what we tend to do today, which is kind of like go through the surface of things.
It might be. It doesn't work. But yeah, you know, I've always been curious about life. Life is the only thing that we should be curious or the most important thing we should be curious about because it's the one we carry.
Right? Literally, we go to see. Like, there's nothing else. There shouldn't be anything else.
And if there is something else, perhaps that's something else. It's not interesting to you yet because you haven't found anything. You haven't found it yourself. So you're interested in that might not be legit.
So why do we have to do all this stuff? Because the world that we live in, the propaganda, marketing, everybody has an opinion. Everybody's against something. It feels today that the trend is about arguing against something.
And no. Exactly. It doesn't mean to be that way. Yeah, it doesn't need to be that way.
Hold on. I'm sorry. It happens to me. I'm like, what was this change?
No, I was going to tell you curiosity leads to expand your mind. I think that a lot of people, what happens these days is that they are not putting themselves in opposition to want to learn more, be more curious about life. They just keep this path forward. And that's the only thing they do when in reality in order for you to find new passions, you got to be curious.
You're going to learn things that you might not like, but other things that you might like more. And this is what happened to you. You became curious about, Hey, what can I do next? I mean, I think this will be something more than curiosity because I think everybody's curious.
They just don't know how curious they are. And they don't even know how to start certain things because they don't teach you this. I mean, they literally educate you to become a worker. Yeah.
So when when you said something in an environment, okay, stay with me. And well, basically we're saying we're saying, we're saying, okay, oh, got it. Yeah. Okay.
So it doesn't just that people are focusing on a train and they don't get the curiosity. The problem is not that they go there. They don't know. We are taught to go that way.
That's a habit. So that doesn't mean that we cannot do it or that we are living the wrong way because we are not looking into ourselves. It's not hard to know that you have to look into yourself. First off, like you're raising your born and you got you, you know, you attack every problem in your life, except yourself.
You haven't even asked a question about yourself. So that's not nobody's fault. It's not our fault. It's just the way we're brought in.
Now, we should use people that have been curious enough and have done other things to inspire the rest of us to to understand that this life is ours to live only like a video game on first person point of your perspective, everything around. It's literally just a set and we live for the outside, but we pay no attention to, like, for example, we know that if we eat that, we're going to go crazy. We're going to get in bad shape. We still do it.
Why don't we change because there's an attached part of the brain that is in a habit of doing something. Let me tell you, let me explain something. I don't. I don't have so many things though.
Okay. The, um, I forget what I was saying. It happens to me so much. Please tell me.
No, I think. Look, let's put things in perspective because at the end of the day, what I see you is somebody that has rockets. You have fireworks going in your brain. You're a creative person and you always have so much going on.
And I think it's important that we put a path so that the listeners can also understand how somebody that moved into New York at 19 years old created a very successful film all the sudden transitioning to real estate. How did that happen? First of all, like, what was going through your mind? Was it just about being curious, finding that vehicle that allowed you to grow financially?
What was the first step? You know what? I don't think anything went through my mind. And that was the beauty of it.
The more things come to your mind, the more you brought yourself from doing something that is exciting to you. I did not study in school. I did not know. I knew nothing about business when I started in real estate, but I had to learn.
I was no other way. Now, if we, you know, we limit ourselves to everything. First of all, it's very scary to put yourself in an application where you have to start all over again. Because, because it's lonely.
Because so long, what do I want to do? I'm just, you know, I wasn't always like this. This has come as I got to know myself based on the results I've gotten by doing things that are instinctually what I want to do. The reason I'm going to real estate is because I did a film, the second film, the second film was a disaster.
And I took it so personally, eventually wanted to find a job and then I find a job as an editor in a studio and I was a janitor at Knight in a community college. And the owner of the studio asked me, you know, he told me to borrow the camera. I got a great camera to go back there and shoot it. Anyways, it was a disaster so I left it and in a job, just two jobs were enough.
And eventually I got into real estate like everybody else. It was a time when Craigslist was the only way that there's no these things online and stuff like that, no Instagram. But what happens? I'm going to tell you something.
I'm not trying to break it down. We always have a, we have a, we have a culture of a five year plan. Why am I going to win five years plans? It's impossible.
It's impossible to know what you're doing in the next 10 days. How can you put yourself in a five year plan? When you're doing that, you're already, you're already meeting yourself. I say, leave it, leave in the present, like the little ball in the car, you're okay.
Right there. You don't, you don't, you don't step one, one, one blow behind. You go straight. If you missed that, no, you keep going.
And as you do that, you have to give yourself enough credit as a human being to understand that you have instincts. And you will not go on the streets like by making a choice such as whatever. And please, I know this might make no sense, but please do not be driven by money. Money comes, I promise.
It comes in all stripes of farms. It comes and it comes. It just comes. When you're aiming for that, you're aiming for a paper.
You don't even know what the, what money is. Money is a currency that is believed by people. If people stop believing in it, it means nothing. So then we're, we're focusing our entire life on going after that, because that is defined by success and defined by somebody else's that even if it was successful, that's nothing to do with mine is completely different place, different time, different parents culture, everything.
That's why 7 billion people are 7 billion different, different everything. They're completely different. Even, I haven't been running. We're different because we're in different places.
But if you tell yourself you're an idiot for 40 days, you become an idiot. If you tell yourself that you're amazing for 40 days, you become amazing. The brain is very flexible and goes where you want to take them. It's very hard to go to the gym for the first time if you haven't never gone.
But once you're there, you create the habit and then you cannot stop. Now you now friends want to go out, you're like, now I gotta go to the gym. So what happened? It's actually the habit switch.
So when you're switching how it's very difficult at first, like I don't want to eat anymore sugar. Difficult as hell, right? But you have to be, you have to know for a fact that if you push just a little bit, the, the, the, the going in part takes like a week. You know, in that week, it's like first, what am I doing?
Second week, I quit my job, third day. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm going to do a fourth day. I figure it out.
Five days I go on the street. You know, you, you, the first thing to understand is where you are in life. Are you happy with what you're doing? Are you really happy?
Don't tell me you have to do it. We all have to do it. By the way, I'm broke right now. Zero dollars.
No problem. I'm living with my parents. Again, while I'm doing something else to go, no, nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, this is what life is about.
Like, are you kidding me? Okay. I'm very excited because this is super important and I wasn't born with a special gift or anything. I'm just like, I'm just, I literally just have been seeing results and the more results I've seen.
I just keep on doing and obviously becomes an habit. So no longer am I in love with something and don't pursue it. It cannot happen. It doesn't matter.
I mean, I can't say I want to go to the NBA on 5 foot 8. You know, it's going to happen. You got to be realistic, right? But, but we have the capacity of learning anything we want.
We just got to give it the right amount of time and the respect that it deserves. I spent 15 years in real estate and I became good at it because because I was in that little thing, you know, I feel felt through I didn't cry. I just went to the next thing or if I was a decline, I keep on going. The client tells me I love that apartment.
Please. Why do we lose it? I said we lost it. Listen, it doesn't matter how much we go at it.
There is absolutely nothing we can do. It might sound crazy, but I'm intelligently, I'm telling you the truth. Let's move on. Let's make sure it doesn't happen again.
So you're living always in the present. I think that about seven years into the business, I already was tired of it. But at the same time, I had a big group. I had a business with people and it was, you know, it was difficult to know that you can do something else when your life has become entirely about real estate.
You go and talk about real estate in different groups around the world. You literally told a story real estate every single day. And like just went off at a three-state. It's very important to go by the way.
It happens every day. Good thing. I'm not. I hear you.
I mean, look, I can hear you perfectly. And as I'm listening to your story, it's very remarkable to see how vulnerable you are and how open you are to share your story because I've seen a lot of people that reach massive success in real estate and they've also developed a lot of ego and they cannot get out of the train. So you didn't even hear Miami. I see a lot of people that are now married to their business and are they really happy?
They seem frustrated because all they do is they go married to something that is not really fulfilling them. At the end of the day, we are building a vehicle that allows us to live our dream lifestyle. And real estate is a great vehicle if you are able to drive it properly. If you're just driving against the wall, you're going to, yes, go against the wall with all that money.
You got it, but you're not going to be happy. Right? So what you did, you did something that a lot of people got in shock, right? You see these other two cats that were with you, right?
Right? And you don't have a rhetoric. All these two guys went into a different path and you decided to go into an inward journey. You decided to focus on yourself, focus on what really made you happy.
And you're sharing your story right now in a very raw way that it's very remarkable because it really opens the eyes a lot of people that are stuck into what they think is the right thing to do. I think that's our biggest enemy, man. Why would I be afraid of vulnerability? This is how I am.
This is how I think. The way I think has absolutely nothing to do with my intelligence. I would be exactly the same. But if I'm starting off the wall saying that I'm a robot, there's no connection.
If there's no connection, there's no trust, there's no trust, there's no business. And that goes in life as well with relationships and everything. I mean, the reason we think about our dream life being associated with money and big houses and travels around the world is because that's the way it's been put out there. Our dream life doesn't have to be a rich life.
As long as it's rich for you. That's all that matters. When I was in business, I made a lot of money. But I always came home by myself.
I always wake up on myself. And I was very happy about it at the time. So you know what? This is my business.
I'm going to do this. But that's fine. I was in the 20s and years go by. Now you start to look ahead.
You realize it's a long life, man. Like you stick to this. You'll be doing the same thing in 80 years from now. 80 years is three times my, it's twice my age.
That's another life to be lived. And the problem is how do we get away from that? Because it's very easy to say it. But how do we get away from that?
First of all, I think we got to start creating how it's of just eliminating negativity from our lives. You might think that you read this all over the place. They say don't surround yourself with negative people. Let me take it a step further.
Just negative eating itself. Speaking to yourself out loud. Most little things they add up. I'm telling you, bro, your brain hears it.
If you tell yourself otherwise, enough time, you'll believe that. And once you believe that you're amazing, you actually become incredible at whatever you do. You start seeing that you start inspiring others to do the same. Everybody that's working with you elevates the business because now everybody's in a different place.
I'm not bigger than no one because I had money. Right now I have zero. I'm still the same person. And I'm glad to actually have been in this position now after being put.
I started without money. I make money. I'm going to make it again. It's something different because it's very easy.
People are saying, why don't you go back to real estate? You can make money again. It's not about that. You really, really use it.
It's not about that because I get excited when I learn something like muscle memory. When you do this in a lot of music, when you're starting something very hard, it's the morning you wake up and it's in bread in your brain. It tells you that your brain is capable of a lot of things. We're just not using it.
We don't use 10% of our brain because we don't allow ourselves to use the rest without knowing that we're actually in the middle. But today it's a very difficult. It's a very crazy world. I'm not telling you what I'm doing now.
I was going to ask you. I've seen your inward journey and everything that you've developed upon yourself. But I'm very curious. What's next?
What's in the pipeline for you? What I'm doing is completing you. I had a very bad time in the past five years. I've been in a massive depression.
A lot of things happened. This was probably my baby was kidnapped by his mother. I heard by her mother. A lot of things.
And I have to take away because at the end of the day, man, you've got to take away from the noise. You know, if you go to a desert by yourself, it takes a year for the noise to go, even if you're by yourself, because it's still in your head for that long time. You have to. So it's not something that you want to take away enough.
You have to take enough time to understand what causes this, what causes that, what can you do better, what things around you have not been built correctly since the beginning so that you can, you know, so I'm down to the trash and rebuild them the right way. When we were young, five years old, we cannot build our life the right way because we don't know how to. We accept everything that's given to us. Now we can.
So the only thing that's different between now moving forward and when we were young is that we don't have to learn how to walk or speak. We already know that we had experience. So we can start from scratch developing something new. And in 20 years, you're still young and you've already built another real estate career, whatever it is.
But the point is that it's not about the career, it's about the life that you live. And the life that you live has nothing to do with the way you live in terms of money. I do not respect anyone because they have money. I respect someone who just truly believes in something, whatever it is enough that it makes me want to believe in something as well.
Because when you when you're obsessed or something and you're and you really believe in something so much, you cannot see when people say, I cannot see it. Well, you can't, but I just can't. It's very clear. So within the depression and all that stuff, I was shooting a show actually when this happens.
I was shooting the Netflix show. We were on this show called, World Most Amazing Vacation Rentals. We went around the world and we try all the different BMBs kind of like criticizing food, but we did it for different houses. It's a great opportunity.
But while I was filming, this was happening. I was destroyed in the inside. I couldn't do anything because I was stuck in a place that we had to finish this job. So within what I found when we were shooting is I found the guitar.
This was in COVID and I never carried guitar before. I love music and I use music all day, especially when you're doing movies. Every storyteller has to be a company. But I started playing the guitar and I remember I asked someone to give me the four chords of the House of the Racing Song.
And I played those four chords all night very badly, but the song was there. So I kept doing that every day after every shoot all the way till the end. And by the time I was finished, I developed a love for guitar. But mostly I developed a love because I realized I haven't been using my brain for a long time.
It doesn't require a lot of it. It's not rocket science to work in real estate. If the information is there, you just have to have the instinct. The instinct comes with experience and the experience comes with doing it.
But something so simple to give me more joy than the five apartment, six cars waiting for me back home and the apartment that's so big and empty on its own. So what are we talking about here? You know, like this is for me to this life. It's my life.
The same is what he's doing. Now, everybody taking critique. Oh, a million dollars for a guitar. That's kind of crazy.
Well, you don't know what it means in the inside. To me, it means more than a million dollars. Not that guitar. What is the guitar is bringing out from me that this is no longer bringing for me.
In fact, my business was taking me down as a person because the more I stayed knowing that I didn't like it, I was still good. I still had to live up to my reputation, deliver for all the clients. But I was delivering in a forceful way because I had to. That's not life.
So what are the choices? Leave the business that you're not allowing. And what are you going to do? Figure it out.
That's true. Some people have money. They can take in transition. Well, some people just have 50 jobs.
And one day they have family members. It's very difficult. And every reality is completely different. But within that reality, there is the possibility of someone making a choice of choosing something different.
Yes, they're sacrificing the beginning like everything. We have to sacrifice. If we do not sacrifice, what is the feeling of the outcome if we need to sacrifice something on the way making it? It means nothing.
You have to sacrifice things in order to have meaning behind that. And while you get that meaning, that's the experience that you get through it. That makes you so much better the next day and as your other career. So I decided I wanted to learn music and I wanted to be a big artist.
Hello, nice. But no, it's very different. I'm not able to become a musician. I'm an artist who does tours around the world.
I'm looking to expand my music within me. Now when I do that, because I don't hustle as much as I did before, I literally spend time with my family. I pay attention 100% to everything I have in front of me. Because then why am I having this in front of me if I'm not giving it my own?
So I started playing guitar every day. Now I was on the show. I was dealing with a court case that happened in London. I was I didn't even know.
I was, yeah, I would. Yeah. And eventually I ran out of money on the case. I was playing guitar every day.
And I couldn't continue. So I had to drop. So anyways, I couldn't continue. I didn't know if I used to have money.
So I didn't ever check my bank accounts. I just used the credit card. So I wasn't able to fight for my daughter. But anyways, that's not the point that this thing's happening in life.
And this is probably nothing compared to what people really go through. But it comes to tell you that within bad moments, you can make choices that will eventually strengthen things for you to be able to see things in a better way so that you can deliver in life in a much better way. So you can be a better person to whoever's with you. So you can be a better husband.
Or, you know, a better, a better human being to be around. Just that. Look, give me a kick in the face because it's much difficult and I thought it was going to be when I started. It was really difficult.
So I said, I need to get into music. I even I even the, uh, uh, a fundraiser to try to get an album done. And, um, and I didn't get anything out of it. But it was great.
It was great because it put me in a spot where I had to, I had no choice. And no choice but to, but to study what I wanted. And he also tells me how much you want to craft. So what I did, I went to work together.
I went back to my parents. I have no, I cannot be read. I sold everything I had. Um, I got my guitar.
I closed myself in a room in this exact room for four years straight, playing guitar 12 hours a day and learning how to sing 12 hours a day with it. I'm going to be on a percussion, a bass, a composition, and but singing is the most important part. Um, why do I want to do this? Nobody listens to each other anymore.
Me only language that we can listen to is the only language that enters through us because everybody says something. Everybody wants to say something. You know, when there's so much, there's nothing, you know, and you got to take a step back man because, um, we have no reference of what our life is going to be when it's when we're older because our parents did not live in a world that is growing at this pace. So we don't have any reference as to how that's going to be.
We look at our parents now and they're fine. At eight years, all retired with their house. They had a different upbringing and a different system, a different economy, different government. We're in a different place with technology that is, you know, so we got to take a step back as a person individually.
When I say we use this man as a person individually, take a step back. Even if you don't think you have to just to put, just to look at your life from the outside and happiness, which is something I always wanted to aim for. It's not the real definition because you don't, you don't, you don't find happiness when you find something you have it. I found this.
I have it. I can't find happiness and how it's happiness is almost like a room being clean. You have to clean it. If you don't clean it, it's dirty again.
So you achieve happiness on a day basis because it's not forever. You have to maintain that. But when you do it enough, if your body does it for itself, it's always looking for a way out of a problem that you're going to. This is very strong.
I mean, look, wow, keep carry on because this is very, very strong. And I've never seen this side of you and it's very, very raw. And I'm sure everybody that is tuning into this is probably feeling the same way to hear you say the things that you're saying and finding such a salvation through music in something that a lot of people cannot overcome, which is depression. And I've done a lot of campaigns to raise mental health awareness.
And we can talk more about it later, but you found something and you're sharing it now. And it's okay. It's okay to be vulnerable. It's okay to open up.
I don't think we should even say it's okay to be vulnerable. I think we should say you should be vulnerable because why would you be something you're not? It makes no sense. You think people who do not respect it?
If I'm a broker that doesn't know anything, it's my first day on the job. Why am I pretending to be Michael's vote? You know, like, I'm going to start. I'm going to learn.
I say to my clients, I just started last week. I'm actually with a great broker who's there to help you out. I'm just going to watch. You are who you are at the time you are.
And while you do that, you're not competing with anybody else because everybody else has a different path. 100% doesn't matter how dissimilar you are. So you take the outsides to inspire the insight. That's the only way I see it because if the inside is not inspired, then you cannot inspire the outside.
So you must inspire yourself with the outside, the inside and then do the same outside, which is what I'm trying to do. The depression I've had for a very long time. But the first thing that we said in this conversation was a change of perspective. I can guarantee you that change of perspective, like, could eradicate the direction.
Now, you got to have the perspective, but not just the perspective shift. Then you need to wait on that new perspective to make it so solid that no other thing, not the other perspective that we had before will take us out. Let me change perspective. Girl leaves me as she's the love of my life.
I cannot live without her. She leaves me. My point is I'll never find someone like her. I am destroyed.
I am that, that, that you go down the line. It's a perspective. She's not the only person. We don't see that because we're so so translate that into everything in life.
And we're defined by what we have and we're defined by what others say about us and we're defined by everything else why we wear and we aren't really without definition. So you do that, then you can have a million dollars and live without a 1985 Bronco in the middle of a place nowhere because it doesn't define you. You just have it there. You want to spend it the right way?
You want to go crazy? Go crazy. You have it there. But it's not your life.
It's just a thing you have. It's a part of your life. Your life continues on with or without that money. And you will grow and you have different interests and you meet different people that would shake you.
Hopefully you find inspiration enough to do make your turns in life because if you do not turn, you just keep going on that road. The only way to change the road you're going is to make a fucking turn. Listen, listen, and it's hard to make that turn, but sometimes it's fucking pull the wheel because we will survive. We will be fine.
We're afraid of making changes because we're afraid of what people will think. Like for example, I could say a lot of people think if I leave a show in television and real estate to do music, which I don't know nothing about. My mom and parents are going to laugh. That's what happened.
But I already expected it. Because how? What is the ratio of me becoming an incredibly inspiring musician? Zero in like a billion.
Because I need to first have the knowledge, right? I have to put all this work. But, um, look, I want to tell you something. Everything happens to life.
First thing in your mind and then in reality, you saw it that you could become that musician and you're now making it happen. And there's also something that you mentioned earlier on, which I find fascinating, which is sometimes yes, we want to make a turn and we struggle on how to make that turn. And it's about taking a moment to be quiet within ourselves. There's so much noise in the world.
You just said it. Such a fast-paced environment. There's so much going on that we were just like going on with whatever the world is feeding us, whether it's information knowledge with people expect from us. And at the end of the day, like you did, staying in that room, just going inwards, trying to identify what is really important for you and purify your mind.
I did the 10 days I did retreat. It would be possible. Very powerful. I did too.
Okay. So it's one of those activities, experiences and things that can really put you in a position of, okay, I take everything away from you. You can take everything you want. Everything.
And I will still be okay. When you find that strength within your own mind, then you can take any turn you want because you know that on the other day, one of the most important assets that you will ever own in your life is your mind. And if your mind is strong, then you can do anything. You can dream bigger.
You can aim for whatever you want. You can do the left turn and the right. But the difficult part is that we're not strong to begin with. How do we become strong?
It's very difficult. Well, my only advice, which is it really is you have to give yourself a push a little push every day. Even if I promise you that this push doesn't carry on for years. It carries on for like a week or a month.
Unless once you're like in the rhythm, you're just being good at something or not. It's not defined by the world. It's defined by how much you believe it, right? So there you go.
And yeah, everybody can, that's the perspective shift. You just have to allow yourself to put yourself in a place where that can happen. It's yeah, we're not everything. We're not even like a percentage.
We're so much more. And that's kind of like also what I want to translate into music. In a way, if I went, because I will, there's not like you don't understand. I will do this in such a scale.
And I do it because it's something that within inside it, it likes my fire. If I'm able to have a lot of people in one room and give them just one inch of a feeling that puts their hairs to the ceiling, that rhymes. Then there's a meaning to like, Buddha, you know this because you said you didn't be passionate. You cannot be a Buddha if you can become enlightened only.
You can only become enlightened. I mean, Buddha, when you get enlightened and you share it, you must share what you know. You have to share what you know. You cannot.
It makes no sense. So right now I live with 12 t-shirts. This is a jacket that I got from my old days. And I thought I wear it because it's nice because I always have a white t-shirt.
Or like eight or five t-shirts, black t-shirts, I work on everything. I don't go out. I am literally here. I go out to the conservatory to take classes there.
But then I go right back. And I go right back. And I go right back. And I go right back.
And most of my memory every day for 365 days for two years for two years to today. I gotta tell you that I feel complete without being complete without completing. But I feel complete because I am in charge of my own decisions. I have decided I'm gonna take this course.
If I fail, it's not me. If I dislike everybody, you know, nobody will have an opinion, but none of them will move a finger to make anything in your life because they have to do theirs. So why are we influenced by the rapture world who's giving us advice that they're not willing to do for us? Let's just be intelligent.
And I am looking at life straight in the eye. And I am trying to make my own definitions of what things are. I define what is into my life. What's good.
What's bad. What's honest. What's dishonest. And then you realize that the better you become the better person.
You also become. You understand that there's no leading line. Eagles. People feel you shouldn't be fed.
The course of growing should be dropping your ego as you grow. You're actually giving opportunity to the front part makes you more powerful and power comes from respect and respect. Listen, nowadays we know it before you can fake your respect for two days. Now we can see it like this.
So who's who's other life you know that you're trying to do if it's not yours? And you know, this is the most beautiful part. And I can tell you this for years after because I haven't gone out and my life has been so completely different from what it was in New York. I'm not just happy.
I am a firmer. I'm grounded. Proud. I got crying because yeah proud proud because I'm man because you have to be proud.
You know, you have to. You're also doing the process. You sacrifice a lot of things and nobody's there to tell you. Pat yourself and say good job.
Keep doing it. You see it. It'll happen. The more you go.
The more you grow. The more clear becomes and what you do it. If you become a crazy person. Well, let it be.
I'm not crazy. It's not always crazy. But I became addicted to one thing that's giving me back exactly what I'm doing. The world doesn't give exactly what you give to it.
A person doesn't give exactly what you give to it. A thing doesn't give exactly what you give to it. Friends find everything. But music gives exactly what you put into it.
If you get time, it'll give you it's just four years. If you take five or four years away from our business to like re-inertilize our lives, we think not too much. I'm going to be so old. That is just perspective.
We're actually like 15 now because of the way we eat now. So we have a longer lifespan ahead of us. We can still be 12 years old at 50. Imagine if that was the case.
You know, so while I was on, you have to put this hat of a person who doesn't do no longer dreams, no longer shows the side that makes you human. If you hold all this nonsense, like I'm crying because I'm inspired. But if I hold it, then what am I holding on the end or whatever I feel? And it doesn't do good to you.
It doesn't do good to the people either. So I guess the point of the conversation, which I wanted to be more for the audience because this happens to all of us. I think it's very important individually. I don't know if you're married or kids, it's still just individually.
Just like pay attention. See, look at yourself in the mirror. Look at yourself. You recognize the things that you're good at.
You recognize that you may not know what to do next. That's okay. I didn't know why I wanted to do this. It just kind of happened.
I got to get started, but I decided I'm not going to make money right now from it. So I already know that I have, but the money will come again. So we're leaving too fast, man. The world is very angry.
We're fighting each other. We're trying to crush each other to get ahead. Kids are making millions of dollars, but they haven't actually stepped foot in the outdoors, which gives them no experience to handle that money. Therefore, the education they give to the younger generations, them being young to the younger, will now have access to the internet.
This is the very generations that are coming up. So this, right now, this process, it's part of the instincts I'm creating. You continue to have a much pure life moving forward. Even if I don't, if I get bored in music and I stand for years doing this and now I want to throw it away.
I don't throw away what I got from it. And I will take the same approach and whatever I do next. I know I want to do real estate because I don't go back. I just don't have my own reasons.
But who else? I want to be an attorney for using college. Let's go. Whatever it is.
I used to be very attached to people. That destroyed me. And it's not because of them. It's because of you.
You create the attachments. And when you create that attachment and that thing that you attached to is no longer there, you become miserable. You say that. Attachment equals misery.
Exactly misery. So I was very attached to, you know, and then you have the social media and now your word is a little bit more. You know, you get you get now things from different sides, not just from your circle, from outside. Then you don't understand how that site works.
So you try to do your best to keep yourself doing well in that space. Then doing, then you start to discover what's doing well. The industry too evolves. So you don't know.
And you're in and you say, you know what? What can I do? That's the people we like? What can I do?
And then I'm thinking, hold on. Now art is actually what people want. What do you want for me to create? That's no art.
You create you. I like it or dislike it. So my lesson was that I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I didn't have miserable by being attached to what people that never thought of me would think about me. Like, that makes no sense.
It makes zero sense. You know, that's what happens. It happens every day. Like hating ourselves to the death and nobody else is even thinking of you.
It's, so then why live that way? Let's live inside for a little bit. I'm not saying spend your whole years in a room. But if we spend 30 or 50 years outside, one, two months, it does not going to hurt.
Understand that this is actually a good thing. Understand that if you stop eating sugar, you will lose weight. It's just as simple as that. You got to do something.
So that's so it's very powerful. And look, a lot of people, they always spend money to impress people. They don't even care about that. Like they are going in a completely different direction.
And this is just because of the society we live in. And sometimes it's vulnerable people that actually can take on and be like, Hey, this is how I feel. This is what I'm going to take on. And there's a journey that you got to go through.
And sometimes, hey, it takes courage. Right. You said it right there. But then you build a momentum by being encouraged and disciplined every day.
And sometimes that correction is not about going there. And sometimes it comes from just being alone with yourself for a minute. Just to understand what am I doing really? Your outfit is not what you read.
Your outfit is you. What you read just compliments your outfit. But this is the thing that takes the information and edits it out. So it has to filter to our brain.
Our brain has to have a grid filter. Exactly. Let me ask you this question because I've always asked this question to our guests. And you going through this journey.
I'm very curious what the definition of luxury means to you. Oh, well, I think that that changes over time. When I started real estate in 2008, luxury men's, the dorm and buildings, the high life, dim the cars, the private jets, all that stuff, luxury rentals, luxury condominiums, 50 million there, 100 million there. But then you start realizing that everything is luxury now, right?
Luxury it luxury. It is luxury. But now it's not luxury. So now everything is luxury.
You have to really find within the luxury where what's luxury was not. Luxury really is something that you are happy with, something that you can that you are proud that you have got by doing something, by doing by doing whatever you need to do to get that luxury. First of all, the value that something holds, it's given by us. So this is all can mean the world to you.
It can mean nothing to me. So you that you put the value in things out, you know, people put the value in the money and you reduce that value and then you just decide where you want to allocate it. By the way, change my number. I haven't talked to anybody.
No, no, no person has talked to me except for me actually. No person has come to me. I cannot reach me. I change my number for a reason.
I have to do it because you want to take off. You have your phone. It's not doing it. What do you want to do it?
