All that ladies and gentlemen and welcome back to another episode of Mira of your host here Alvar Onunius And today we're gonna be flying all the way to Los Angeles to have with us the one and only Joelle UCL She's a luxury interior designer a real-state developer in Los Angeles She's been featured in magazines such as Elle magazine house beautiful the Wall Street Journal among many others She's a mother a wife and a TV personality and she's gonna bring us today What it takes to take your properties to the next level. So very excited about having her here today. So let me welcome her Alright, hey, I'm good in you very good very good. How are things in the way sunny California?

It's looking great How are things in Miami? We are a little bit lucky. I guess right ha ha so come on here. I know you were thinking about it Yes, I'm you know, we might just do it Hey, come on.

There is huge demand here for what you do I was making a quick intro and you are definitely the great definition of High-end interior design and real-state development You've been working on some of the most incredible projects in Los Angeles And you could bring that over all the way to Miami where the magic is happening That would be a dream that really would be a dream. Thank you so much No, of course And thank you for being here today I know everybody that is doing it is gonna find a lot of value on what you have to share with us because you have a really interesting background and the way that you build yourself to become one of the most recognized interior designers and real-state developers in Los Angeles So I want to know a little bit about how did you get started and get all the way to where you are today? So I started off with a development background my family business We developed luxury homes in Los Angeles particularly in Beverly Hills And I kind of just started going to site meetings and I always had creativity and I always loved interior design So slowly slowly I started getting involved and honestly It's a dream come true being able to sit down and create these magnificent homes with immense detail. It's amazing I love it and look at you now.

What are some of the current projects that you have going on that you're really excited about? Well, we just finished the project. It's on Blue Jay Street. It is it's kind of known as billionaires Lane We actually worked on this project for years like major retaining walls We took down a portion of the mountain to have this infinity pool It just hit the market two months ago And I mean it's to the 9s.

There's a 6,600 square foot walkthrough closet. There's a juice far in the house There's a jam a theater at 400 bottle wine cellar. I mean it was it was wild We don't see that many of those here in Miami. That's why we need to bring your magic I know that is the event so we'll make it happen Now tell me a little bit because obviously you just finished this beautiful project I mean I will show it in the section after I could not share it on the screen for some reason Instagram life has changed So I'll make sure that everybody follows you and can check your portfolio because it's definitely a dream of a project Now I want to ask you because with the current situation that we're leaving real estate still remaining a whole industry How have you seen the demand on Los Angeles?

You know when the pandemic began in March everyone just buckled down and we didn't know what was gonna happen Around April 1st. I mean we were working remotely, but the phone calls and the demand I couldn't get a painter I couldn't get a cabinet installer. It was it was wild although we were all working remotely and from home Construction still remained active and it I mean everyone's home. Everyone wants to make your house is pretty so it's good And you're right because I believe that one of the few industries that have remained really strong are the ones related to real estate And you know anything that comes with this such as interior design and more people are starting to look into the importance of Taking care of every little quarter on your house So they're putting more emphasis on it and some people don't even know where to start So it's very important to rely on those that are considered experts and have done it for many years like yourself So that's you know I see that as well.

I mean we've seen the same situation here in Miami now I'm not sure how you've been staying up to the demand when it comes to promoting your services and product Have you been doing anything differently? Honestly, I feel like that's the one portion of my business that I've been lacking a little bit is attempting to promote myself because there's not enough Time in a day The only place that I've remained active has been Instagram and it's been very helpful at creating a true brand your identity who you are Has really helped me through this process. I think you touch a really good point You know creating your personal brand because nowadays people want to relate to other people not just a company itself And you come from a TV background as well as you've been TV personality You've been featuring multiple magazines So people already have a good understanding on who you are and what you can bring to the table So taking that into advantage through technology and social media in this case I think it's a key win now besides Instagram. Are you getting into all the platforms that are helping you?

I've recently joined the clubhouse and I got admit I'm a little bit of a junkie It's it's so good. You just you go into these rooms are talking about every single subject you could imagine from Bitcoin to Racial inequality to multiple languages Let me tell you something to you. You're not the only one I think there is a lot of junkies right now with clubhouse and it's fantastic That's a really fun way to connect with people at a much much broader level I'm really interested in conversation So I know from many others in the industry that are hooked into clubhouse that there's been a lot of benefits on it So I'm really excited about hearing that you're in there We'll definitely put our room together Maybe we can combine you know the LA magic with the Miami and then bring something in there because there are two whole markets It's they are two really hot markets We've actually been looking at certain places in Miami and your property values over there have skyrocketed I mean, it's the Miami fever everyone wants to move there. Come on Joel come before it's too late I wonder who that is by the way I want to also emphasize on a couple things because you work on some of the most incredible projects and for the eyes of a lot of people That's considered luxury, you know, you're working with the top furniture and materials and homes and locations So you've seen it all and I always like to ask this question Especially to people that touch luxury, you know as we see it, but what is really luxury to you?

That's a really good question. What is luxury to me? Luxury to me means it means exclusivity One of a kind it's made tailor to you Custom custom custom custom exclusivity one of a kind That's true things that people cannot really attain but also the same time, you know if it's just something that is unique for yourself Doesn't need to be expensive or not, but it is custom which I like them were by the way I think you're the first one in all these conversations. We've had that said that so I like that custom No, you're right I believe that nowadays more people want to have something that reflects their personality their lifestyle and it's important to attain that luxury Through the people that can bring you that, you know So I believe that these services of interior design and being able to bring everything together half sky rocket because of the reason that we were Talking about before, you know everybody's looking more into the importance of building your home the right way 100% Joel let me ask you because you are always so happy positive I know you are you know mother of some kids a wife a lot of work I'm just still maintaining to go through your day do everything positive What are some key elements that have you implemented your routine to stay with this personality?

So to do list gets me really far. I have to admit though don't always buy into the Instagram like it's not always Sunny unicorns out. I do have my mental breakdowns here and there especially with the children They're at home with the homeschooling running a business running a house and being a teacher It's been a little challenging, but I have fantastic news. My daughter started school on Monday.

So I feel like There we go. So what else keeps me going? I have to say when when I succeed If it's even a small success of completing my to-do list that day or not burning dinner on the stove that evening That gets me going the little small success is keep my energy going I like that I like that and there's a term that I like to use a lot which is the beautiful success You know there's the little things that you keep accomplishing through your day that are so beautiful and makes you stay so positive So you're right, you know little to do this and start accomplishing certain things So I like that now having had any mentors or books that have inspired you to be where you are today Honestly my inspirations come from I set goals for myself And I kind of make them up as I go along through the year or this year I want to complete this or I want to create a furniture line and I Get my design inspirations for my travels use the arms. I like to collect things And you've been traveling a lot right that you were also in Monaco You've been in I mean from what I see in your background.

You've been quite happy traveler. Let's put it that way I love to travel. It's a true passion of mine, but I also come from a diverse background I have family that live in different parts of the world So during summertime if we get the opportunity to travel we go we visit them and it's kind of a part of identity Well, that's what you bring to the table to you know is that sophistication and International background that really brings inspiration when it comes to I find it fantastic I believe that you're going in the right direction to become a really if not already one of the top interior designers and real estate developers And definitely I would love to see you here in Miami and see how you can bring all that passion and talent to you So I don't know if you have any takeaways or anything that you would like to share Any takeaways anyone who's listening that wants to come into this industry I swear if you work hard it will always come to you and Those are the words from the amazing Joel who has made it for sure So I want everybody to please follow her check what she's doing I'll put all her information on the comments But she's phenomenal and really an inspiration for not those that are in their interior design industry real estate in general For any entrepreneur out there for any mother out there for any wife out there that really wants to drive through because what you're doing Joel is fantastic and a big fan so I want to Congratulations and everything you do and I can wait to see you either in the later or here my hand by hand by the way Sounds good. Thank you so much for having me Well, thank you Joel and we'll talk super okay Bye.
