Sligo Councillor calls for more Costal erosion support

from Ocean FM News Reports

It's hoped that more can be done to assist coastal communities in west Sligo from further coastal erosion. There have been ongoing fears that several areas have been left vulnerable due to the erosion with areas such as Easkey and Enniscrone worst hit. The fund has been increased nationally in recent months to €90,000 to assist those on the ground. Work began earlier this year to instal rock armour at the Coast Road in Easkey, which is set to provide some comfort to those locally. However, local Independent Councillor Joe Queenan says greater funding at a national level would be a major step forward in the right direction.
