Sligo Councillor takes issue with Irish Rail over ‘increasing momentum’ towards creation of new rail line in Sligo
A Sligo Councillor says serious questions need to be answered how Irish Rail allowed the Local Authority in Sligo spend 1.6 million on the Sligo Greenway when they were fully aware that the project would never come to fruition. Independent Councillor, Marie Casserly has been a long-time advocate for a Greenway to be established on the track. She has questioned the narrative being spun by Irish Rail that ‘there is a change in momentum’ towards reinstating the Western Rail Corridor. The former General Election candidate says we are years away from seeing rail services being restored on the route and that A Greenway will never be allowed to run alongside and active rail line.
