Sligo/Leitrim Deputy says the security of politicians is a concern

A Sligo Leitrim Deputy is warning that the safety of politicians will continue to be placed as risk as long as social media continue to court controversy.  The comments from Deputy Martin Kenny come as A 40-year-old woman appeared in court last week, charged with sending threatening online messages to the Tánaiste, Simon Harris. The Sinn Fein TD has personal experience of violent behaviour after his car was set alight outside his residence in Leitrim. Deputy Kenny has previously called for elected representatives to give greater consideration to their personal safety, he says it's regrettable that  society has gone in this direction  in the present climate there are some individuals that think it's acceptable to target politicians.
