Maja 2017 so se delegati Aboriginov in otokov Torres Strait Islander zbrali na Državni ustavni konvenciji prvih narodov v bližini Uluruja in sprejeli Uluru Statement from the Heart. Izjava vsebuje načrt za priznanje prvih narodov v avstralski ustavi in predlaga strukturno reformo na treh področjih; Glas, dogovor in resnica. Sledil je dvoletni posvetovalni dialog, ki ga je oblikovalo in vodilo 13 regionalnih dialogov prvega naroda, sprejelo pa ga je 250 delegatov Aboridžinov in otočanov Torres Strait Strait. Prizadeva si za vzpostavitev odnosa med avstralskimi prvimi narodi in avstralskim narodom, ki temelji na resnici, pravičnosti in samoodločbi.
