Být označený za vlažného není pochvala, ale není to ani odsouzení. Takový člověk obvykle nikomu neubližuje, pouze je… dalo by se říct: pomalejší. Bez zájmu, bez nadšení, bez vášně. Přistupuje k věcem možná trochu lhostejně, někdy i s nechutí. Zkrátka vlažně. Ježíš proto říká: Kéž bys byl studený nebo horký! Ale studený „psí čumák“ nebo horká hlava, to také není nic dobrého.
