Welcome back to Artbeat Radio!    Today, we speak with Heather Thornton, a talented playwriter who speaks with us about her play titled “Slow Times at Aviation High”  Heather describes this work as "Breakfast Club...but in wheelchairs" Here’s a note from Heather- Born in 1961. Disabled in 1971. In those days, the school sat me in a corner as if being disciplined, simply not knowing to do what to do with a disabled child.   But in high school, Aviation High to be precise… we all lived our similar experiences together. That is why I have the love and respect for those years and my fellow students. It filled me with confidence and encouragement. Writing has always been a sanctuary. I encourage everyone to do it, no matter what the perceived outcome. It fills the heart and the soul with… whatever might be missing.
