Small Wonder: S1E10: The Adoption

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today I'm covering S1E10: The Adoption, which aired on November 9, 1985. In this episode when nosy Mrs. Brindle reports the Lawsons to child services for not having Vicky enrolled in school, the Lawsons rush to forge adoption papers. But their plan gets complicated when a doctor's exam is required - on their robot. Also in this episode we get another spanking joke from Ted, apparently sitcoms thought spanking a child was hilarious or at least the writer of the show did, I mean this is like the 4th or 5th time Ted's mentioned to spanking Jamie. Heck, it could be more for all I know. We also have a very inappropriate doctor come over to physically examine Vicki or actually Jamie dressed as Vicki, in the end the guy kisses Jamie on the cheek. I get it, it's 1985, but come on, that was gross even for then. He also kept commenting on his/her shoulders and eyelashes. No way, tv shows or real life would get away with this. That doctor would be in prison. Out of the Brindles, Bonnie is at the top of my I Hate The Brindles List. Surprisingly Harriet is second. Harriet's just annoying but Bonnie is extremely intrusive practically bordering on stalkerish. Join me in September for S1E11: Child Genius, which aired on November 16, 1985. In this episode Ms. Fernwald of Child Services forces the Lawsons to hire a tutor for Vicky. But when the tutor gets too excited about Vicky's super memory, Ted gets worried and comes up with an idea for a replacement teacher.
