Small Wonder: S1E24: The Grandparents (Season 1 Finale)

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen her, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered S1E24: The Grandparents, which aired on May 17, 1986. In this episode Grandma and Grandpa Lawson learn about Vicki. Ted's father takes this news especially hard because he was fired from his job and replaced by a robot. This episode cleared up something for me that I thought in my original viewing of this episode back in 1990 when I was 8. When Vicki mentions Gonzo of course at the time I thought she mean't Gonzo from The Muppet Babies, when she actually meant Gonzo from the TV Show Trapper John M.D. It's so weird, I went a good chunk of my life thinking she was referring to Gonzo from the Muppets because at the time that's the only Gonzo I knew, only to be corrected 30 years later. See, I learn so much from rewatching these 80's sitcoms I grew up on. Ted's father actually tells Harriet he wished that she was his granddaughter because she's real. Oh sir, if you only knew and much a pain in the a$$ Harriet and her family are. I'm looking forward so much to the adventures of Vicki and the Lawsons's coming in 2021 when I start Season 2. Now starting in January instead of one episode a month I will be covering two episodes in one podcast episode a month. That's double the Vicki. I figured this way I wouldn't be spending two years covering one Season. Here are the two episodes coming in January: Small Wonder S2E1: Chewed Out, which aired on September 13, 1986. In this episode Jamie and Reggie, learns a sobering lesson by, smoking cigarettes and chewing tobacco to elevate their freshman status in junior high. I remember this episode from back in the 90's when I watched it in a rerun but it will be interesting to see if I view it differently now that I'm older, being a kid at the time this felt like one of those serious episodes because it dealt with kids and cigarettes. and S2E2: Money, Money, Money which aired on September 20, 1986. In this episode Jamie tries to buy the love of a pretty classmate. This damn bitch Jessica is back, WTF Jamie! Didn't you learn your lesson from last Season? We'll see what happens!
