Smoke Alert: Calgary Landfill Fire | Calgary News

A major fire rages at a private landfill in Calgary’s southeast, with firefighters battling tough terrain and wet ground to prevent it from spreading to nearby businesses. Smoke drifting southeast could irritate lungs — especially for residents in Douglasdale and Quarry Park, who’re urged to keep windows shut and stay indoors. Officials call this a “long duration” blaze with no clear end date, so prepare for a prolonged situation. Hazardous materials teams are sampling air and tracking smoke movement alongside provincial environmental agencies. Stay alert and protect your health.
