Eastbound and down, huh? All because of a bet? Ok, let’s do it! Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed, Sally Fields, and Jackie Gleason, all together for a chase film. The premise? A truckload of beer transported to Georgia (in the 70’s, it was illegal for Coors beer to be sold east of the Mississippi), without getting caught by the police. So starts the run of a 1977 Pontiac Trans-Am as Bandit runs a blockade against the highway patrol while “Snowman” and country western singer Jerry Reed runs the cases across the border, all within 28 hours. Join us this week as we discuss one of the highest grossing films of 1977, Smokey And The Bandit!
