Jerry was born in Taiwan, Taipei, the Capital of Taiwan.Taipei is known for its lively street-food scene and many night markets, including the expansive Shilin market.Jerry Lee was raised in Taipei until he was 7 with his younger sister.His father was film director, his mother, a make-up artist.Schooling was not ideal. Schooling in Taipei is said to be a very strict pedagogic student-teacher relationship and at that time teachers often hit students with rulers if they screwed upAt 18 all males had to join the military at the age of 18.Mr. & Mrs. Lee didn't want this for their children, so they packed up the family and moved to Carmel, CA.Jerry's grandparents had a Chinese restaurant there. Jerry's father became a cook, his mom, a waitress.They lived in Carmel for 5 years.Jerry remembers running around the restaurant as a kid with his sister and friends. He was raised in the back of the restaurant.The restaurant was called the Golden Buddha. Jerry and his sister could be found running around the restaurant when they weren't in school.The Golden Buddha restaurant was located in a small strip mall called The Barn Yard. Here, Jerry adapted to California quickly and became a great Skateboarder.
