More than once.But through art he slowly overcame his crippling depression and feelings of despair. Over many years and as many revelations he discovered a better path for living that eventually inspired him to co-found the Dead Poet’s Foundation along with actress and activist Mariel Hemingway in 2019.Nicola & Mariel are dedicated to turn the trajectory of suicide downward through increased awareness of suicide and its prevention. Nicola has said of his art: ”For me painting is love… other emotions, ups and downs, and everything in between. Love and pain are the catalyst - love is the color and pain is the brush.
