SNAP benefits on hold again following emergency Supreme Court ruling

The KYW Newsradio All Local: Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025 (morning edition): The U.S. Supreme Court has granted the Trump Administration’s emergency appeal to temporarily block a court order to fully fund SNAP payments in November amid the government shutdown. Before that ruling came down last night, Governor Josh Shapiro warned of a long legal battle ahead over the food stamp program, when he thought he was announcing the return of SNAP payment KYW Newradio's Nigel Thompson was in Fishtown with the governor. *** Air travelers are feeling the effects of the hundreds of flight cancellations which began yesterday at 40 major airports across the country, including Philly International, as airlines comply with the FAA's order to reduce service. Check your flight status before yo go out. Right now, Philadelphia International Airport is reporting two dozen cancellations and many delays. Guests attending the service are wearing shades of pink in honor of what Scott’s family calls her “beautiful spirit and bright personality.” The defendant in the case, Keon King, remains behind bars with a slew of charges that include murder. *** There has been a data breach at an organization that provides programming and services for older Philadelphians and those with disabilities. It is a 10-story ride with views of the city's skyline, the Schuylkill River, Philadelphia Art Museum, Boat House Row and beyond. Each of the 24 gondolas can fit up to 6 people. The "Pherris Wheel" is opening in conjunction with the Zoo’s nature-inspired holiday light show, LumiNature. It will remain at the Zoo through the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations in 2026. *** SEPTA says no trolleys will be running through the Center City tunnel this weekend, while crews repair overhead wires. Trolleys service will begin and end at 40th and Market Streets from 10 o'clock tonight until Monday at 5 a.m Inbound riders will have to transfer to the Market-Frankford Line at 40th Street. Westbound riders should take the El from 13th to 40th Street.
