It's an unfortunately common injury in sports, and especially in basketball. Celtics guard Marcus Smart is the latest victim of the eccentric loaded step back mechanism of injury. The same one that struck Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets, and a similar mechanism to the infamous Kobe Achilles rupture where he stayed on the court for his free throws.
