SNGP 26 - The History, Present and Future of Premium Multiplayer Shooters
from SNGP
Send us Fan MailWhile gritting his teeth through the hosts of Nintendo's Indie World, David Radd finishes up on Mafia: Definitive Edition and finally finds some good cars while encountering two false endings in Tearaway Unfolded. Meanwhile, Tuesday played some Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Dawn of the Battle Royale!! which oddly does not have a battle royal mode and somehow only achieves success with the base class in Risk of Rain 2. In news, Activision Blizzard warns it's employees against unionizing, Ubisoft's head of global game production leaves and their own employees don't understand their NFT push, while David takes a stand on an announcement clearly designed as a distraction by Ubisoft. In news that wasn't quite as frustrating, Nintendo starts expanding into a new space in Kyoto while the Switch has best ever week in in Europe along with a great month in the U.S., while the PS5 didn't sell as much because there were severe supply constraints according to the NPD, and Sony acquires support studio Valkyrie Entertainment and announces new PS5 faceplates. In the Hype Corner, every game in Nintendo's December 2021 Indie World is discussed and given a grade of "hype" or "not hype". In the SNGP topic, David and Tuesday look at the history of premium multiplayer shooters and wonder if they have a future at all down the road.If you enjoy the podcast, visit us at Patreon.com/SNGP!
