So Long, One-Eight!

A fond farewell to Cessna 172R, N918TA - my favorite airplane. 18 met her end in the grass off of Runway 27R at PTK on July 13. The accident pilot is fine, but 18 was bent pretty badly and it looks like she's a total loss.

Some Cub Flying Neal Boortz The last time I landed the CarbonCub on pavement was at Sarasota on my way from Yakima, WA to my Naples home base. That was last October. So this morning I thought I might go ahead and test my pavement skills on RW 5 in Naples. Here you go ... full 50 degree flaps .. as slow as I could get her. Touchdown airspeed was around 49mph .. and with the headwind that translated to a ground speed of about 40mph. You can see how short these Cubs can land.
