SOG vs SCROG & LST vs HST

from Grow Weed at Home · host Nate Hammer

This week's PotCast is a growing technique special! We are going to compare different techniques, split into two separate parts. Each part will explore two different techniques which act as counterparts to each other. First off, we are comparing Sea of Green (SOG) with Screen of Green (SCROG) - these are two techniques that help to maximize both the space you are growing in and also the potential yields that come from your plants. Both techniques are all about cramming as many plants as possible into your grow space.   With SOG, you group plants together tightly which helps them to form a canopy, or sea, of green leaves to help trap light and boost budding. SCROG is similar, only this time you have to place your plants within a screen to bunch them all together. They both serve a similar purpose, but which is better? Then, in the second part, we are looking at two training techniques that stress out your plants and force them to be more productive. That's right, we are looking at Low-Stress Training (LST) and High-Stress Training (HST) - both of these techniques involve bending the plant's branches to expose more of the stems to light, which in turn allows them to develop more bud sites.  LST is obviously the less rigorous of the two methods and HST can be quite scary if you have never used it before, many growers fear they may snap the branches and harm their plants. Today we are going to look at the risks and rewards of both and determine which is better for your plants!
