Soldiers' Bear Attack: New Safety Measures
from Anchorage News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Two soldiers from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson were injured in a brown bear attack during a training exercise in Alaska. The attack, which occurred in April, was likely a male bear near a den site. The soldiers used bear spray, which likely saved their lives. DNA from the scene did not match any past incidents, including a deadly 2022 mauling by a female bear. Brown bears are emerging from dens and becoming more active, increasing the likelihood of encounters. The incident is still under review, and experts emphasize the importance of proper bear spray deployment for safety. Support the show: Get a discount at https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
