SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING: 34th Sunday Yr B

Send us Fan MailSisters and brothers in Christ, in the vision of the prophet Daniel in the 1st reading, peoples of all nations, and languages are seen serving God. This reading urges us to be dreamers, to be visionaries. To imagine what this world would be like if it were indeed, the kingdom of God. What our families would be like if it were indeed, the kingdom of God. What our communities/nation/work places/groups would be like if it were indeed, the kingdom of God.But How can we make the kingdom of God a reality in all these places – in our hearts, homes, families, communities, grousps, places of work? The answer lies in what is revealed in the second reading from the Book of Revelation. We need to be people free from sin. We need to make our world free of sin as well. A world without sin would truly be an amazing place wouldn’t it? Imagine the evening news without a murder to talk about, a theft to report on, a lie from a politician…imagine no reports gunshots, no stories about children abandoned or abused…imagine nothing on the news about any of the “ism’s” which inflict our world – no racism, sexism, no consumerism…Imagine a world where there are no abortion clinics, no one is starving, no one is homeless and, most of all, no person is unloved!!!The Gospel of Saint John today makes clear to us that the Kingdom of Jesus is not a Kingdom of this world but a Kingdom in the world to come, life after death, life with Jesus forever—or life rejecting Jesus forever.  He said, “My kingdom is not of this world.”  At that moment, when he was standing before Pilate, Our Lord did not show his power and glory but at the end of time, he will do so.  He will come in majesty and in triumph.  He will come as the King of All the Universe, openly showing his power.  We must choose to be in His Kingdom or we shall live forever in the Kingdom of Satan. There is no middle ground - no grey area. Where will you be? Support the show
