Solis Minerals starts Mandacaru lithium drilling

Solis Minerals CEO Mitch Thomas talked with Proactive about the start of diamond drilling at the company’s wholly owned Mandacaru Lithium Project in Brazil and the exploration milestones expected across its wider portfolio. Thomas said Solis Minerals had moved quickly from acquiring the Brazilian project package to beginning drilling, with the company now testing what it considers its highest-priority lithium target. The initial campaign comprises approximately 10 diamond drill holes for a total of 2,000 metres. The program is targeting an approximately 800-metre-long lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatite corridor identified at surface. Drilling is designed to assess the continuity and geometry of the pegmatites and determine whether the system hosts spodumene mineralisation at depth. Discussing the pace of activity, Thomas said: “We’ve gone from acquisition to starting drilling” in a little over two months. Alongside the Brazilian campaign, Solis Minerals is preparing to restart copper exploration in Peru. The company holds the drill-ready Cinto Copper Project outright and can earn up to 100% of the Cucho Copper Project. Government approvals required to drill both projects have been received. Thomas said the company intended to create multiple opportunities for exploration success by advancing lithium drilling in Brazil while progressing copper targets in Peru. He also highlighted the company’s funding position and the expected flow of exploration updates during the second half of the year.
