Solo Episode - The Best Advice to Give and Receive
from The Many Faces of Cancer · host Melissa Grosboll
Today's solo episode is something that has been on my heart almost since I was diagnosed. I love people who are supportive and there for their loved ones. When I was first diagnosed, I didn't tell anyone outside my immediate family and a few close friends. I didn't want a lot of unsolicited advice. I was overwhelmed by the solicited advice I was getting from my medical team. I know people mean well and naturally want to "fix" things and make them better. That's usually not possible when faced with a cancer diagnosis. On the other side, people come to me asking for advice on what they should do, which treatments they should have, etc. That's another slippery slope. What do you tell someone asking for this kind of advice? We break it all down in this episode. How to handle those situations, no matter which end you are on. Granted, it's only my opinion, and I'm continuing to learn. These are some tips that have worked for me.Let me know what you think of the episode and how you're going to use this information going forward.
