Solomon Roller: Don’t Get Stuck

Shawn Maus talks with dancer, writer and musician Solomon Roller about the long, messy road toward figuring out what you’re meant to do. Solomon traces his creative life from drawing and writing as a kid to discovering Michael Jackson, teaching himself to dance through YouTube videos, competing on America’s Got Talent, finding mentors and eventually making his way to Los Angeles. He also talks candidly about school, depression, quarantine and the discipline it took to keep moving when it would have been easier to get stuck. At the center of the conversation is a simple idea: purpose doesn’t always arrive fully formed. Sometimes you find it one stepping stone at a time. Originally recorded for Art In Your Heart in 2021.
