Somalia bomb blast

from African Dialogue · host Channel Africa

Demonstrations have taken place in the Somali capital Mogadishu following the huge bomb blast that is now thought to have killed more than 300 people. Hundreds other were injured and many people are still missing after the blast at one of the city's busiest junctions. It now appears likely to have been carried out by the Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab. The truck bomb exploded next to a fuel truck, increasing the number of people killed and injured. To help us with this this we are joined by: • Ahmed Soliman, Research Associate in the Horn of Africa programme at Chatham House, • Jazmine Opperman, Director Southern Africa Operations at Terrorism, Research & Analysis Consortium
