Some Other Night

Recorded and mixed by Luke Oldfield at Tilehouse Studios - July 2015. Guitar, Bass, Vocals: Jon Bretman Drums, Piano, Organ: Pat Kenneally She takes out a notebook In it are the names of everyone who's ever done her wrong She crosses one name out and adds another three I lean over her shoulder, to see if she's got it in for me It's just out of reach She orders a G&T When it arrives she throws it my way and gets herself a double single malt whiskey Well I'm more than a little intimidated But I try to keep my cool Have you ever seen New York City in the winter In must be like looking into a mirror I still have no idea what I meant Can you tell me something? How am I doing? Is my wit and charm enough to win you over? What is your favourite film? I'm not surprised when you say you don't own a TV But you once went to a private screening of Annie Hall You've got every trait I miss from a previous love Along with all of their flaws Oh baby please let me be yours I know that you'll leave as soon as you get bored in a few weeks I've been known to drink too much Been told that I roll my eyes when I feel the need to learn you something I'm trying to be the best version of myself As we exchange stories from our youth We both choose to dilute the truth Each trying not to let the other one through Why don't we give it a go? It's not like we've got anything to lose Can you tell me something? How are you doing? Is the loneliness enough to see this through? Can you tell me something? What the hell are we doing? We kiss goodbye only to be polite and then it's over Later on when I'm at home Staring at the ceiling wondering if I will die alone Without thinking I tap some lies into my phone I hope you got home alright I had a really good time Maybe we should do it again Some other night
