Por Pablo Callejón Soy Claudia. Nací una mañana de otoño, creo que eran las 6. Puedo contarles quien es mi mamá, cómo se llama mi papá. El día que llegué a este mundo volvimos antes del atardecer a casa. Creyeron que era lo mejor. En el camino cruzamos controles policiales, conductores nerviosos, mujeres que rogaban por algo. Un día de invierno salimos de noche, era un miércoles. Papá gritaba eufórico y mamá estaba feliz por él. Me vistieron de una ropita blanca con una vincha de paño celeste. Hicimos una cuadra en Fiat Europa 125 y ya estábamos detrás de una larga fila de autos. Ese día le ganamos a Perú un partido imposible. Eso pude saber muchos años después. Había una alegría explícita, con gritos de desahogo. Y había también gente triste, muy triste. Aquel 21 de junio quizás nacieron otros niños y niñas que aún no saben quienes fueron sus padres. Era un tiempo donde algunos bebés eran paridos en salas de tortura, arrebatados de los brazos de sus madres. Salas con camillas de cuero, donde dolían más las quemaduras de las picanas que las heridas del parto. Soy Claudia, eso lo se. Me pregunto cómo se llaman ellos. Cuál es el nombre que hubiesen elegido sus padres. Cómo los llamarían las abuelas que aún los buscan. Papá se quejaba del trabajo y los salarios cuando volvía de la fábrica. Las primeras protestas en el laburo habían terminado mal, eso me dijo. Aprendí a caminar y pronto iré al jardín. En la tele un hombre de uniforme asegura que los soldados están bien y volverán “con unos kilos de más porque comen mejor que en casa”. Parece que estamos en guerra.

Rania Awaad Muslim Central Dr. Rania Awaad M.D., is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Stanford University School of Medicine where she is the Director of the Stanford Muslim Mental Health & Islamic Psychology Lab as well as Stanford University’s Affiliate Chaplain. In the community, she serves as the Executive Director of Maristan.org, a holistic mental health nonprofit serving Muslim communities, and the Director of The Rahmah Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating Muslim women and girls. In addition, she is faculty of Islamic Psychology at Cambridge Muslim College and The Islamic Seminary of America.She is also a Senior Fellow for Yaqeen Institute and the Institute of Social Policy and Understanding. Prior to studying medicine, she pursued classical Islamic studies in Damascus, Syria, and holds certifications (ijaza) in the Qur’an, Islamic Law, and other branches of the Islamic Sciences. Mohammad Qutub Muslim Central Dr. Mohammad Qutub is an Islamic scholar with several decades of experience as a teacher and orator. He completed his Master’s and PhD degrees in Uṣūl al-Dīn and Comparative Religion at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and has several Ijāzahs (licenses) and certificates in Qur’an, Hadith, etc. He has spoken internationally in the Middle East, the U.S., and Southeast Asia and regularly holds intensive seminars and university lectures. His passions and research revolve around: Islamic thought and history, Qur’anic Tafsīr, scientific Iʿjāz (inimitability) in the Qur’an and Sunnah, and comparative religion. He teaches students of all different ages and backgrounds in-person and online. He is also an engineer by profession with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the U.S., and extensive experience in the field of Industrial Gases.
