Son Rise Morning Show - The Royal Banners Forward Go: Venantius Fortunatus’s Triumph Hymn

On this Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Dr. Benjamin Lewis, Director of Translation Services for the International Commission on English in the Liturgy (ICEL), joins the Son Rise Morning Show! Dr. Lewis introduces and reads the 6th-century hymn "The Banners of the King Go Forth" (Vexilla Regis). Originally composed by Venantius Fortunatus for a solemn procession bringing a relic of the True Cross to Poitiers, France, this marching hymn highlights the central paradox of our faith: how an instrument of brutal suffering became the royal altar of Christ's victory.
