from ehealth radio network · host eHealth Radio Network

Beth Houck, CEO of SonarMD, the leading, digital, value-based care coordination solution for complex, chronic GI diseases, specifically Crohn’s disease and IBD joins eHealth Radio and the Health News and Technology Channels. Beth is going to talk with us about holistic management of IBD and how the SonarMD digital program keeps patients more closely connected to their providers which, in turn, reduces the risk for emergency room visits and hospital admissions. Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels guest Beth Houck discuss the following: What role do digital, specialty value-based care (VBC) companies play in healthcare and how do they serve patients, providers, and payers, alike? Can you comment on how, generally, VBC improves patient outcomes and reduces barriers to care? Can you describe SonarMD and why you elected to focus on IBD?How does the SonarMD interface with patients and how do providers use the data being collected?SonarMD has an extensive dataset with clinically validated outcomes as compared with a risk-adjusted control group. At the 2024 Digestive Diseases Week the company presented findings from two large studies. Can you provide an overview of those findings? Summary: Chronic illnesses have a significant impact on the mental and emotional well-being of patients and, despite therapeutic advancements, only one-third of diagnosed and treated patients move into remission. That’s why a holistic approach that includes symptom monitoring combined with proactive lifestyle adjustments – like diet, exercise, sleep -- is increasingly recognized as vital to improving health outcomes and reducing healthcare utilization. Beth Houck has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Before joining SonarMD, she led customer experience for SA Ignite, a cloud-based healthcare technology company helping provider organizations manage performance and compliance with their MACRA initiatives. Prior to SA Ignite, Beth held positions in strategy, business development and operations in several healthcare organizations, including a startup focused on patient experience measurement and at health systems and payer organizations. Beth earned an MBA with a Health Services Management concentration from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Northwestern University.
