Gibt es auf dem hiesigen Markt überhaupt genügend Projekte, wie „1899“, die das Potential nutzen können? Zudem erzählen die beiden von ihrem Talk auf der FMX und über ihre Mit-Autorenschaft am Virtual Production Handbook der Visual Effects Society. Die Grundlagen der Virtual Production gibt es schon seit den ersten Tagen des Films. Die Rückprojektion von bewegten Inhalten auf die Leinwand im Studio, um zum Beispiel Autofahrten zu simulieren, geht bis ins Jahr 1918 zurück. Über 100 Jahre später waren Christina Caspers-Römer und Tobias Stärk an der Netflix-Serie „1899“ beteiligt, der bis dato größten deutschen Produktion, die mit Virtual Production entstand. Caspers-Römer war Geschäftsführerin der produzierenden Dark Bay GmbH, Stärk als Creative Tech Lead & Virtual Production Supervisor mit dabei.
