Wir sprechen über seine Mysteryserie &#8222;Hameln&#8220;, wie Inklusion und Diversität Stoffe bereichern kann und den Prozess, in Deutschland einen Genrestoff zu produzieren. Seit Dezember 2024 ist die Serie „Hameln“ in der ZDF-Mediathek abrufbar. Rainer Matsutani setzte sich in der Coronazeit mit dem Stoff des Rattenfängers von Hameln auseinander. Er recherchierte er die Ursprünge der Sage. Als eines der auch international bekanntesten deutschen Märchen ist sein Ursprung erstaunlich gut erforscht und lässt sich auf den Tag genau fast 750 Jahre zurück verfolgen. Am 26. Juni 1284 sollen in Hameln 130 Kinder von einem Flötenspieler verschleppt worden sein, weil diesem sein Lohn für die Lösung eines Ungezieferproblems verwehrt worden war. Die Story wollte Inklusion Matsutani entwickelte auf Basis des Wortlauts den Stoff mit einem modernen Ansatz weiter. So wurden seine Hauptfiguren Menschen mit Behinderung. Matsutani, der bisher Filme und Serien zum Genre umgesetzt hat, hält es für die größte Herausforderung einer seriellen Erzählung, außergewöhnlich gute Figuren zu schreiben. Dann kommen eine tiefgründige Geschichte, der ein starkes Thema innewohnt, dass dramaturgisch beleuchtet wird.
