Song of Songs 5:2-6:13: Same Words, Opposite Ending
from Daily Bible Reading · host Christ Church Hemel
🎧 Song of Songs 5-6 | Same Words, Opposite EndingToday's poem repeats a scene we've already heard — a woman searching the city streets at night for the one she loves. Almost word for word the same. Except the ending is reversed. And that reversal is the whole point. She hesitates at the door; by the time she opens it, he's gone. "I looked for him but did not find him" — the exact words from chapter 3, but this time nothing is found. Even the watchmen, once neutral, turn violent. Yet in the ache she keeps praising what she cannot hold, and the belonging formula returns changed: "I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine" — his name now comes first. Love strong as death is about to face its hardest test.#SongOfSongs #Bible #BibleReading #Lament #DailyBibleReadingDaily Bible Reading is a chapter-by-chapter Bible reading podcast from Christ Church Hemel, helping you read through the Bible one chapter at a time.
