Sonnet 15
from Jamie Kimathi Milburn · host Jamie Kimathi Milburn
This is a sonnet from the collection by Tyrone Wilson Renwick that I have set to music. I have set others to music, such as "Joyous Morning and Sorrowful Night", and look to upload the remainder. Lyrics: A crippling sadness was yesterday, It is today and shall be tomorrow, Why does the pain refuse to go away, How do I, therefore, escape my sorrow? Hours have become weeks in your absence, Pleasures which I once loved have taken flight, My walks remain but you are now absent, This is my world of an unending night. As timeless as the stars in the night sky, As eternal as the rise of the sun, You are the light when the darkness is nigh, You are the battle which can ne’er be won. A flame which is, and shall always be there, Burns for the one to whom none can compare.
