Sons Of Negus - Rastafari In Dub

from Rob Walsh · host Rob Walsh

Rastafari In Dub by the Sons Of Negus was released in Jamaica on the Top Ranking label, possibly (!) in 1978. There may have been a previous white label issue in 1972. It’s (mainly) the dub version of the album Rastafari, by Ras Michael And The Sons Of Negus, released in 1975. Both have been reissued on various labels over the years - see Discogs. This is (probably) the original Top Ranking issue of the Rastafari In Dub LP, uploaded in Wav format - i.e. best possible quality. Streaming only. I think it’s magic, especially from 25 minutes 20 seconds onwards. I don’t hold the copyright and will willingly remove this if the copyright holder objects. There are eight tracks on the LP, and ten listed on the sleeve and label. It’s described on Discogs as ‘..a beautiful blend of roots and Nyabinghi music’ and I won’t argue with that. The dub remix is credited to Mervyn (Mervyn Williams). Here are the credits on the sleeve. Bass – Robert Shakespear Drums – Santa and Michael Richards Wah-Wah Guitar – Peter Tosh Lead Guitar – Earl "Chinna" Smith, Clarence Weirs Keyboard – Bernard "Touter" Harvey, Geoffrey Chung Funde, Repeater and Bass Drums – Sons Of Negus Brass Section – David Madden, Glen DaCosta Re-Mix – Mervyn Produced by Tommy Cowan Design [Album Design] – Errol "Irie" Myrie Recorded at Dynamics Recording Studio, Harry “J” and Joe Gibbs Studio Tracks as listed on the sleeve and label..
