from Tell Me Your Story · host Richard Dugan

SophiaDemas – Consciousness Beyond Death: True Stories of Signs, Messages, and Timing https://sophiademas.com/ Iwas lucky to have had a magical childhood. I was born in Dearborn, Michigan, where my father worked for the Ford Motor company. He had immigrated alone fromGreecein 1909 when he was fifteen, and it wasn’t until forty-two years later that hereturned to the “old country” and married my mother. We had no relatives here.Being aware that my parents were of a different culture and a generation olderthan my friends’ parents, allowed me to accept their eccentricities and fostermy independence. When I was seven, my father retired and we moved to Greece, whereinstantly I had a boisterous extended family. However, Greece’s geographic vulnerability to Russia duringthe Cuban missile crisis scared him into moving us back to the States. We endedup in Portland, Oregon, where my father bought a house nearthe Greek Orthodox church which, aside from her family, became the center of mymother’s life. She had indoctrinated me from birth that little baby Jesus andthe little Virgin Mary were my friends whom I could ask for anything I wanted. It wasn’t until I was nineteen that I began paying attention tocoincidences, many of which resulted in my receiving exactly what I needed atjust the right time. I found that the more my awareness was elevated, thesharper my intuition became, and the more I trusted it for guidance. Thiscultivated inner voice has enabled me to recognize coincidences as divinecommunication and to encounter miracles. My experiences have made it clear to me that Divine Intelligence wantsus to be happy and find our true purpose. Knowing what’s best for us betterthan we do, this Higher Power communicates with us in many clever ways, including putting coincidences in our path to nudge us. Unfortunately, we weregiven free will and we use it to resist these messages. By taking action, webecome co-creators in manifesting and fulfilling our needs. The onlyrequirement is keeping our mind just a little bit open. To focus on my career, I had decided not to get married or havechildren. The last thing I wanted to do was to write a book. The Universe, however, had other plans. Thank God I listened to those nudgings! I hadresisted marriage until I was forty-five when I married Frank. Fr. Stephen, anAlbanian Orthodox priest, who had launched shelters for homeless teens in NJ,introduce me to a beautiful teenage girl from Turkey who was living in one of theshelters. Frank and I adopted her, and Mother’s Day became my favorite holiday. And I’ve written two books! The Divine Language of Coincidence—How MiraclesTransformed My Life After I Began Paying Attention is a memoirthat chronicles my spiritual journey and the miracles I have experienced. Toonumerous to cram into one book, I plucked out the miracles related to death, which I’ve incorporated in my second book, Consciousness Beyond Death—TrueStories of Signs, Messages, and Timing. Marriage, motherhood, and writing did not interrupt my work in theleast. I have enjoyed three diverse careers: a decade in architecture thatincluded working with famous 20th-century visionary Dr. R. Buckminster Fuller;running my own couture fashion business; and working as a mental healththerapist, in both agencies and private practice. I had also created Living aFearless Life, a 12-workshop program designed to help society’s most at-riskwomen increase their self-esteem, which was piloted in the Philadelphia PrisonSystem.
