SOUL CARE- Interior Examination

In this next sermon in our SOUL CARE series, Fabs shares on the importance of interior examination. This sermon explores the power of the stories we tell and Christ's redeeming work of transformation. Romans 12:1-2 thevineaustin.org/soulcare REFLECTION QUESTIONS: 1. What has stayed with you from the sermon- either as encouraging, challenging, or confusing. 2. Read Romans 12:2, and read it in different translations of the Bible. What do you notice in God's Word? 3. Fabs shared that the first action in this verse (and in interior examination) is noticing with curiosity the stories that are at work in us. What are some of the stories that have formed you for good? What stories have you conformed to that holds you back from flourishing? 4. The second step Fabs shared is, after we have discovered the stories that have formed our lives which are contrary to Jesus, then we find the story that a) makes sense of your experience and b) sounds like Jesus. Discuss the two parts: a story that makes sense of your experience and also the story that sounds like Jesus. How do we do these two actions? Why are they both important? 5. Practice this second step now. As you reflect on some of the difficult stories that have formed your personhood, what story reframes your experience and sounds like Jesus? 6. Interior examination is not easy for many of us, but consider what takes place if we aren't willing to do this important work? What does a life without interior examination look like?
