Soul Searching with 16-year-old Andrew Kloeppel: Blessings in Disguise and Developing Optimism
from Soul Searching · host Nikki Kloeppel
Our guest in this week’s family friendly episode is my inspiring son who gives reassurance to all parents struggling during the pandemic with supporting their kids with virtual school. “It’s not as bad as it can seem. You guys have done great!” He also shares his soul searching from a very unlucky break, literally, when he fractured his hip playing basketball on Dec 30. “Breaking my hip was a blessing in disguise. Going to Children’s Hospital and seeing all the kids there…it’s important to see your bad things in a light and understand there are people suffering and you have to have compassion.” He learned to reframe challenges and look for the good. He summarized those life lessons in an insightful essay and won a $1000 scholarship. “It was one of the best experiences I’ve had this year!” The parenting lesson I learned was to give him a $20 incentive to write the essay. How do we improve our luck? “You can’t win if you don’t try.” Andrew also shares what he learned from taking #DaleCarnegie for teens: “Confidence can help you when you’re trying to convince or have a good conversation with someone. Confidence is key.” His practical wisdom: “Get involved. Get out there and try your best.” Follow me for uplifting content https://linktr.ee/nikkikloeppel and join my Soul Searching Bootcamp.
