Rand Water and Johannesburg Waterrecently made a call to consumers and citizens, cautioning them to use water sparingly due to an alarming deficit between supply and demand. In the begginning of this year, the country saw the community of Hammanskraal struck by a deadly cholera outbreak, Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink has come out to say that will cost about R2.5-billion to fix the Hammanskraal water infrastructure. We reflect a bit on that - what has been happening? More recently, the SA Human Rights Commission report has revealed that Kwa Zulu Natal municipalities have violated human rights by failing to ensure clean water to locals. The commission conducted an investigation after receiving hundreds of complaints about the failure of the municipalities in the province to provide clean water to the communities.
