South Side Sox on the Farm Podcast 9 - 2021 Post-Draft Special! — 2021-07-15
from Sox Populi - A Chicago White Sox podcast · host Sox Populi
Hey, we just had a draft, and it was the BEST ONE EVER! Don't take our word for it, White Sox director of amateur scouting Mike Shirley said so. Anyway, Darren Black and Trevor Lines hopped on with Brett Ballantini to talk about their favorite sleeper picks of the White Sox draft, and we had some fun addressing those and the imminent return of Eloy Jiménez: Jeremy Karll was unavoidably detained by technical difficulties, which is a shame because he deserves more plaudits for SSS's killer coverage of the draft than anyone. Alas, as Eloy is now Earthbound, in Charlotte, Jeremy has ascended into the clouds to occupy his space. Rest in peace, Jeremy Darren likes the massive size and upside of fifth rounder Tanner McDougal, with solid heat and nice breaking stuff as an 18-year-old Trevor opts for the sheer lunacy of demonstrative Liberty University closer Fraser Ellard, and packs a scouting report from his ex-teammates and friends who've faced him Props to Luke Smailes, whose Trackman data extrapolation pointed to Haylen Green as having the second-best stuff in the draft; no, not the second-best stuff among White Sox pitching picks in the draft — the second-best stuff in the ENTIRE draft Brett had his Horned Frog Haylen pick stolen, so he's opting for Taylor Broadway, with very solid closer numbers and one of a few 2021 picks who might plug-and-play in the system Rumors of a Dugout Metrics podcast return Eloy will be back soon. Will he be back in left field on the South Side soon? And, related: Will he make it through the season without getting injured again? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
